Today we’d like to introduce you to Ruby Fay.
Hi Ruby, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My story is a long and winding road. I was born in Australia but have lived all over the world for more than half my life. Tokyo, London, New York are a few of the cities I have spent considerable time in. I have had many careers however the overall theme as been as a singer/songwriter + working in the luxury housing (homes + hotels) space. I am a creator in my being so I take this approach whether it’s entertainment or business. I love to meet interesting people and live for adventure. Being curious keeps us young at heart.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have been tons of challenges along the way. But I refuse to give them energy or you are keeping them alive. I was a single mom in NY during the recession of 2008. That was a period in my life that absolutely tested my faith and resilience. However I managed to stay above water and in fact started my business during that period doing better working for myself than a hotel group! Never, never give up is my motto.
Like so many of us today, I wear several hats. I run a luxury real estate business and I’m writing/recording music for film/TV. On many days I have two computer screens open in front of me. One for music and another for business. This uses different parts of the brain which can be somewhat discombobulating at times! I do a lot of meditation to clear the cobwebs and stay open.
My current challenge is I decided to rebrand my business. Its name + website etc. Now I am about to launch it and its rather daunting.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Typically my work week consists of Monday- Thursday running my luxury real estate business “Referred By Ruby”. This often involves finding luxury rentals for talent predominantly in LA but could be NY or London. I also represent clients to buy and sell homes in LA so this is another area we focus on. Often it may be a foreign client moving to LA so we set up their rental and then once they are settled in we find them a residence to purchase. We’re often also involved in helping source a designer for either the sale or rental property. For the spiritually minded we also have healers that we recommend for all things woo woo whether it be about clearing the property or themselves.
On the creative side of things I usually spend the rest of the days writing and recording music. I have just completed an EP and working out the game plan for that. It’s such a blessing to still be writing music after starting as a young girl.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I draw happiness from many areas of my life. Health and wellness is of high priority. I’m quite involved in psychedelic therapy, kundalini yoga, dance + super high vibe eating. I have many friends who are also professionals in this space. A dear friend coined me “Queen of the Spiritual Housekeepers” My secret goal is to open a healing retreat which encompasses a recording studio for the creatives and a menu of wellness therapies to heal the mind and body when they are not penning their masterpiece!
I have an active social life which incorporates a lot of music and seeing a lot of my international friend group. I go to live music shows + dinner parties. If I have the time I travel abroad but lately there’s been too much happening locally to jump a plane. Life is meant to be interesting!
