Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosie Okumura.
Hi Rosie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a voice actor/singer/songwriter from Los Angeles, CA. I use these gifts/skills to prank scammers on the phone and online, and then I turn them into funny YouTube videos and TikToks. The reason I got into “scambaiting”, was to seek vengeance ever since my mom got scammed out of $500 via a pop-up scam on her computer.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Privacy is a big issue for me. My YouTube channel exploded sort of accidentally, and I hadn’t taken preventative measures regarding my privacy, but I learned real quick how to protect that info! I did end up having to change my phone number a couple of times, and I even moved after my address was doxxed in the comments of one of my most popular YouTube videos. YIKES
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a voice actor and musician, and use those skills to also be a YouTuber! I have a lot of fun with impressions (Siri, Alexa, Britney Spears, etc.) and singing while pranking scammers to waste their time. There are a few “scambaiters” out there, and it’s a lot of fun because we are all so different. Collectively, there isn’t anything we CAN’T do as a community when it comes to pranking those jerks!
