Check Out Ron Jeffries’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ron Jeffries.

Hi Ron, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started as a finance guy. I worked in finances for years and I was miserable. I went up for a job and promotion and the manager basically told me that I didn’t belong. She refused me the job and said, “Ron, I’m 50 years old and out of all of my friends, I’m the most financially stable, but I’m not the most fulfilled!” This hit me like a ton of bricks. She then stated, “ Ron, go after your heart’s passion” and I refuted with “ what if I lose everything I’ve built and worked so hard for” then she stated, “Ron, as long as you have you- you can always rebuild. You are the secret sauce!” So I did it, I quit my finance job and started personal styling, transitioned into wardrobe for tv and film. I emailed Hollywood’s top stylist, Jason Rembert and he never saw the email or responded. Later, I moved to New York and got connected to guess who…..Jason Rembert! Fate, right! I now assist him in styling celebrities in LA and abroad. While also styling my own clientele as well.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
NOT AT ALL. I lost a lot, but I gained alot too! I worked hard. I most recently had the opportunity to work with and meet Uzo Aduba as Jason’s assistant. And one thing she said the resonated with me as a person and my story is what her mom said, “ I’ve never seen nothing come from hard work!” And that is the truth!!!!! The journey was hard but focused! And I feel like I’m just warming up!!!! The best is yet to come!

I’m a little black boy from Baltimore. No real opportunities. You don’t think you’ll ever arrive here, but you do! You do!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a stylist. I’m an artist. And ever evolving creative. I have the opportunity to restore and bring beauty to people. Simply put, I’m an artist that transforms lives through the art of styling.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Omg! I was inquisitive, awkward, but hopeful. I always knew I was going to do something impactful. I always knew that I was different and I didn’t quite fit in. My faith in God has been a staple from my youth. I think this has allowed me to see beyond where I was as a child. I was able to see myself the way God saw me!

I also had the unique and amazing opportunity to attend the Baltimore School for the Arts. I attended the TWIGS program and the high school. And the saying is true, “the arts changes kid’s lives.” This school changed my life, provided culture and opened me up to a world that I can’t let go of and won’t let go of me! The Arts! I’m evolved and have become the person I am today, partly because of this school. Thank you BSA! I love you forever!
