Today we’d like to introduce you to Rapta.
Rapta, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I acquired a passion for music at a young age. Being the only family member to pursue the art, I learned to produce and record on my own at 14. For years, what was a hobby to produce, record, and cover songs, soon became a career after getting kicked out of college in 2016. I got kicked out for selling weed on campus, lol. I used to bag the weed into my mixtape covers just to shove my music in people’s faces.
That led to growing my fanbase and performing shows around the US the following year. August 6th, I’m dropping my come-back single, “Dangerous.” Since getting out of my last deal with a small label out of Berlin, Germany, I’ve fed into toxic relationships and lived enough life to inspire this next single and wave of music to come. I’m excited to tap back in with my fans and perform the music I’ve been making out of my bedroom up in the hills.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t have any regrets on my journey though. I think the biggest obstacle through this past year though was experiencing being a singed artist while the touring industry suffered through covid. In that time, I’ve learned to overcome the adversity that came with being a signed artist during that time. Other life experiences on my course have shaped my music and all of it has helped me evolve and become a more authentic artist.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I don’t think my fans can be defined as listeners of a super particular genre. People ask if I rap or sing but I try to circumvent a stereotypical image by drawing attention to my melodies and piece of mind. I do think my fans most appreciate the honest takes on songs that can be healing to them but I love to dive into the waters of all music and sounds. At the end of the day, all I want to do is be my best self, live my best life. and set an example for people to do the same.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
My team.
@Hoo.be has been a big sponsor for me and my career. I’ve been good friends with founders Jordan Greenfield and Casin ward and we have supported each other before the company started owning their market. Their reach and influence is benefitting my career in a major way.
@Jaketheshooter and I have been working together for over five years. He has produced and helped direct my music videos and content alongside Grant Decyk and the rest of Shooter Co. as it has become a household name in the industry.
@dzn_atlier has also worked with me for 5+ years on graphic design and wardrobe. He and the company has done and still does all my cover art, supplemental music content and helps with putting together looks for shoots and events. His gear is the only gear I really wear.
@crazylocotilly, viral TikTok creator, actor, and influencer has also been on this journey with me for over seven years. He’s my best friend, the funniest person I know.
My first music mentor, music executive @therealNawlage has helped me learn the business side of the music industry since when I very first started. He is a big influence as to why I’m currently still an independent artist. For me, he’s that one OG that is a big reason for your success at the end of the day.
Coming from Boston, The whole team has come full circle and now lives together in the West Hollywood Hills.
