Today we’d like to introduce you to Pegah Ezzi.
Hi Pegah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It is hard to pinpoint where my story started, art has always been a part of my life through my mother and family. It was in the decorations of our house, our family meals, our travels and vacations, and everything in between. As an adult, I got a degree in graphic design and then pursued a stint as a pastry chef / Cake artist after attending Le Cordon Bleu because I was inspired by Tortik Annushka.
However, I believe all of these were the stepping stones in my journey to becoming a ceramist. I learned to work with my hands as a pastry chef, I learned about design as a graphic designer and I learned about home and decor from my family and my travels. Now that I am a mother myself, I see a lot of myself in my daughter. She loves to paint, and she loves to break the rules and color outside the line; she finds excitement in interesting objects ignored by most, including my husband, so I try to add pieces of art all around the house not just for me but also for her.
I still enjoy other forms of art but I have found my calling in being a ceramist. My urge to share the beauty I discover and see with others has exceeded my shyness and has also made me a lifestyle digital creator.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Yeah, it hasn’t always been a smooth ride. There were times when I got a bit lost, dealing with the challenge of staying focused. Juggling creativity, business, and personal stuff threw some hurdles my way. And I had this phase where I couldn’t decide if I should go all-in on fashion or stick with art and design. That decision struggle made things a bit tricky. But, those unsure times turned out to be opportunities for figuring myself out. They played a big part in making my work clearer and richer. The journey, with all its twists and turns, has been a wild ride that added a ton to what inspires me today and what I create. For example, my interest in fashion inspires how I see and mold my pieces. I find inspiration in not just my own experience but all over the place, even in old torn-down buildings.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m all about creating unique yet elegant pieces that tell their own stories. Each piece speaks of my love for art and style and how much I enjoy getting creative and paying attention to the little things. I like to call my specialty the not-so-perfect pieces. There’s a special beauty in their uniqueness and imperfections that I find truly captivating and charming. To me perfection is boring but making something beautiful and imperfect is art.
What excites me the most is the upcoming launch of Ezzi Ceramic in Spring 2024. This venture signifies the culmination of years of passion and hard work. The brand will be a platform to showcase my signature ceramic pieces, reflecting a timeless design and uncompromising quality, and perhaps at some level, I want to share what I love and want for my own home with others.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I’d like to share some words of encouragement. In the creative world, it’s vital to remember that there’s space for everyone to thrive. Don’t give up on your dreams, and never let the success of others bring you down or make you question yourself and your work. It’s easy to feel disheartened when you see others doing well but remember, your path is unique and needs its own time, and know that success is a personal experience, not a competition. Celebrate others’ achievements, let them inspire rather than discourage you. Stay focused, stay passionate, and believe in your ability to carve your own path to success.
I hope my pieces bring joy.
