Check Out Paul Kiefer’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Kiefer.

Hi Paul, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I began my career as a model, working all over the world for more than a decade. During that time, I developed a deep love for photography and gained valuable knowledge about the craft. Constantly being on production sets allowed me to experience both sides of the camera, giving me a unique perspective and a wealth of insight. Today, I’ve turned that passion into my own photography business, where I now capture many of the same creative styles I once modeled for.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the hardest parts of running a photography business—or any business, really—is keeping up with technology and social media. You have to stay on top of your game, using platforms like social media to promote your work and leveraging online tools to get your name out there. I can’t say I’ve fully mastered this yet, but it’s something I’m constantly learning and improving on.

Another challenge has been narrowing my focus. I’m used to doing it all and truly love every aspect of the creative process, so figuring out what I’m best at and honing in on that hasn’t always come easily.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a professional photographer specializing in portrait photography. My work spans a wide range of styles, including fashion photography, commercial photography, acting headshots, family portraits, couples portraits, elopements & weddings, corporate headshots, lifestyle photography, and more.

I’m best known for my moody portraits, which evoke raw beauty and honest emotion. These images often speak to viewers in a melancholic, soulful way, revealing beauty through deeper, more emotional storytelling. I’m especially drawn to photographing individuals with extraordinary beauty or uniquely striking features.

What sets my work apart is my ability to capture a person’s effortless beauty, along with the rich texture I bring to each image during the editing process—all while maintaining the photo’s natural feel.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Times spent with my siblings. This could be playing basketball on the streets, trekking unknown forest in Alaska, fishing on the shores of Hawaii, enjoying the cultural festivals in Europe, and many more great memories we all had together. I treasure every one of them.
