Check Out Patrick Govia’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrick Govia.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have always been interested in acting since I was young. I have two uncles that were in the entertainment industry and I always saw how much they enjoyed doing it and I knew that’s wha tI wanted to do as well. I got started when I was in my early teenage years, when I booked my first commercial. I was so excited, nervous, and scared, but I felt right at home with the cameras and knew this is what I was meant to do.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There are always going to be obstacles and challenges, especially in this industry as it is super competitive. I had to take a step back when I knew I had bills that had to get paid. Life was always something that “got in the way”. As I continued to grow up, I always incorporated my love for acting in any capacity of work environment I was in.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have worked in a few different facets of the entertainment industry – whether I was modeling for a local brand, or working in the background as an extra. I have had stand-in work on a popular tv series as well as small walk-on roles in a few independent films. If I am not on set, I am continuing to practice scenes and monologues to ensure I am ready for my next role.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Don’t take anything too seriously and to try not to overthink things. I’ve had to learn to grow a thick skin and realize that it’s not always about me. I’ve learned my boundaries and what I am willing to accept or not. I’ve had to give myself room to breathe and learned how to navigate patience – as nothing happens in the timing I expect.
