Today we’d like to introduce you to Nina Kiefer & Amanda Filimon.
Hi Nina & Amanda, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
We became friends by chance. We each chose season seats for LAFC just a few rows from each other. Fast forward to the 2019 Women’s World Cup we decided to start a podcast to talk about Women’s Soccer and feeling that it was only a matter of time before a team would come to LA. A year later with a few episodes produced, Angel City was announced and we instantly rebranded to Angel City Chicks. The rest is history!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting out as friends, our chemistry was always strong. So far the road has been smooth, the biggest choice has been which wine bottle to open for each episode.
We both have different personalities that complement each other. This balance keeps us going.
The support of our significant others and families definitely helps too!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We specialize in covering soccer specifically Angel City FC. We are known amongst the team and fans for our dedication and lively coverage.
We are most proud of the organic growth of the podcast. We put out entertaining and informative content that people enjoy.
Our dynamic sets us apart. We are approachable and bring a unique view to the soccer world balancing stats and fun.
We are also unique because we do it all ourselves. It is 100% female produced, researched, edited, and delivered.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
We are very grateful for Susannah Collins and Jillian Sakovitz, they are amazing soccer hosts and we were able to talk to them both when we started out.
We definitely have support from our family and friends, our significant others J.R. Lebert and Christian Filimon opened the door for us when they started their podcast and then showed us the ropes.
Additional experience came when we expanded beyond podcasting to live shows with 110 Football. The producers there were always very supportive.
