Check Out Nem Perez’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nem Perez

Hi Nem, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey began in Chicago at just 18, diving headfirst into the world of advertising as a creative technologist, crafting innovative digital campaigns. But my true passion was storytelling, which I explored by directing music videos for local indie hip-hop artists and brands. I was incredibly fortunate to be part of a vibrant artistic community—one that gave rise to now-global names like Chance The Rapper, Vic Mensa, and Rockie Fresh. Watching their meteoric rise was both inspiring and catalytic.

That energy pushed me to Los Angeles, where I shifted gears to focus on directing commercials and ultimately launched my own production company. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of creating for iconic clients like Disney, Walmart, and Converse, each project sharpening my vision and ambition.

A little over a year ago, I embraced a new frontier: artificial intelligence. Fueled by my love for innovation and storytelling, I founded Storyblocker, a company at the intersection of creativity and cutting-edge technology. It’s been an incredible ride so far, and it’s only just beginning.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to anything worthwhile is never smooth. The last two years, in particular, have tested me in ways I couldn’t have imagined. Balancing the enormous ambitions of building my tech company while simultaneously building a home and starting a family has been a true trial by fire. Starting a tech company without prior experience in fundraising or connections in the business world—especially in today’s economy—has been an uphill battle. But challenges like these shape resilience and character, and I’ve learned to embrace each one as an opportunity for growth.

When I founded my production company, it wasn’t out of ease or convenience—it was born out of necessity. After facing rejection from several established companies, I realized something profound: I didn’t need anyone’s permission to succeed. That lesson has stayed with me ever since. Every setback has only reinforced the belief that persistence and self-reliance are the cornerstones of building something meaningful. For that, I’m deeply grateful.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
These days, I’m best known for my work at the forefront of AI filmmaking, a space where creativity and technology converge. One of my proudest achievements is the feature-length film Our T2 Remake. It was a groundbreaking project, one of the first to leverage this emerging technology, and it brought together an extraordinary community of artists from around the globe. The collaboration and innovation it represented were truly inspiring.

Building on that momentum, I’m now producing another film with a talented team, once again pushing the boundaries of what AI can bring to storytelling. What sets me apart, I believe, is my ability to bridge worlds—I’m not just an artist. I understand the business and technical aspects of this rapidly evolving field, which enables me to craft visionary projects while ensuring they’re both innovative and practical. It’s an exciting time to be redefining the future of storytelling.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is living a life that feels fulfilled and balanced. Creating art, caring for my family, and building meaningful things are at the heart of everything I do. These passions fuel my purpose and keep me moving forward, no matter the challenges. For me, it’s about finding harmony between personal and creative growth, leaving behind something impactful while cherishing the people I love.
