Today we’d like to introduce you to Monica Fitzpatrick.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I recently moved from Chicago to Los Angeles for modeling! I wasn’t always the most confident & secure person you see today. Growing up, I was the tall awkward girl who constantly hunched over to looker shorter just to “blend in”.
I even wore flats to every school dance, including prom. Eventually, I realized I was living my life for the approval of everyone around me and that got exhausting! Then one day in my 20s, it hit me! I FINALLY realized time was flying by and I was wasting my life wishing I was someone else.
I remember staring in the mirror and thinking, “Alright, this is what we have to work with… it’s really not that bad. But let’s rebrand”. I finally learned the skill of “acting as if” and THAT changed my life! I started acting as if my life was a TV show. I knew I should at least be the main character of MY own show, right?
So, I chose to become the type of character I admired growing up. A confident, strong, fearless badass woman who didn’t care about what others thought of her. I started wearing what I wanted without second-guessing myself & I did more things that made ME happy, like going out and taking pictures with my tripod in public.
Now, I have the confidence to tap into that main character’s energy which allows me to create colorful content that inspires my peers to be unapologetically themselves, ESPECIALLY women!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Oh, honey, there are DAILY struggles! Just because you’re finally able to tap into that main character’s energy, doesn’t mean it stays there 24/7! Especially, the times when you’re frustrated because you may not be growing as fast or thriving as much as the next person.
That’s when self-doubt finds a way to creep through the cracks. BUT, I always allow myself to take a break from social media and try not to compare myself to anyone else. It’s ME versus ME from last year and that’s the ONLY competition I have. Not, me versus anyone else.
Finally, I try to stay patient. We all advance at different speeds and I always say, “I may not be an instant pot like others. I might just be a slow cooker, and that’s okay”. My time will come when it’s supposed to, so, I try to have a clear perspective. That’s the key in life.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a colorful fashion content creator! I’ve been emphasizing and bringing more value and meaning to the #TripodGirls on social media. It’s more than just a hashtag, it’s growing into a movement!
#TripodGirls is about exuding confidence, doing AND wearing what you want, not caring about the opinions of others, and being unapologetically fearless! We are creating this content alone. We are the location scout, the stylist, the model, the director, the photographer, and the editor all in one!
Not to mention getting over the nerve-wracking feeling of having to go out in public with a tripod to shoot content while people stare at you. I mean, you HAVE to be a confident badass to do all of that right?!
My goal is to inspire women that want to create, to let go of that fear, and tap into that MAIN CHARACTER ENERGY they’ve been holding back for so long. We all have it in us and I LOVE seeing more and more women gain that confidence.
I’ve had so many women tag me in videos saying “I’m finally going to do it” or “You totally inspired me” which always warms my heart. THAT IS WHY I’M DOING THIS! The more confident & powerful women we have walked among us, the more role models our kids have to choose from.
So maybe we end by discussing what matters most to you and why?
Not having any regrets in life & inspiring others matter most to me. I look back at my life and I honestly regret a lot of years I wasted not taking chances because of fear. I was not taking my goals, my happiness, or my mental health seriously.
So now, I’m making sure I live life as authentically as possible. I want to inspire people ESPECIALLY women to not let fear hold them back from true happiness. If you’ve been sitting on a dream, it is time to make a plan and at LEAST try to achieve that dream.
Because let me tell you, regret is one of the worst feelings you can have. You’re left with the everlasting thought that there’s no going back and changing the past. You HAVE to realize you can’t live life for anyone but yourself.
