Check Out Marnette Patterson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marnette Patterson

Hi Marnette, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started acting around age 7, with my first role in Nightmare on Elm Street: Dream Child. I vividly remember waiting for over 8 hours to film my scenes. By the time I got on set, it was well past 2 a.m., bitter cold, and though exhausted, I loved every second of it. Eventually, they had to bring in a stand-in for me because legally, I couldn’t stay that late. Another standout experience was working on ‘Sliver’ with Sharon Stone. She once told me I reminded her of herself when she was younger. She was kind to me, though I recall her getting upset at craft services for only having one toaster. Since I was only 10 at the time, I wasn’t allowed to attend the actual premiere just the after party because of the R rating. About a decade later, I worked with William Baldwin, and he had some wild stories about that film—definitely a conversation for another time! Probably the most well-known movie from my younger years was ‘Camp Nowhere’, which, coincidentally, was Jessica Alba’s first film. Filming was amazing. It truly was like a 2 month summer camp.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My career has been fairly consistent. I am focused a lot on writing and producing family entertainment right now which I’m excited about. We also finished an action film and it should be released Nov.1 which will be great to see. With acting I found it fascinating that when I was focused on comedy, people didn’t realize I had a real strength in drama. Then, after working so much in drama, they forgot I got my start in comedy. The entertainment industry is amazing, but it can’t be everything. It’s never personal—just the reality of having one role and thousands of people competing for it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Working with such a wide range of actors at different stages in their careers has been fascinating, especially watching some of them struggle with self-doubt, only to go on and become major stars. Brie Larson and Amy Adams are two that really stand out. The key is to keep moving forward. Recently, our home was used as the main location for Freakier Friday, starring Lindsay Lohan. She stepped away from acting for a while, but now she’s back, reprising her iconic role. It’s a reminder that careers in this business can have ups and downs, but staying persistent is what matters most.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
My family. That’s everything to me.
