Today we’d like to introduce you to Marisa “mar” Alejandra Campa
Hi Marisa “Mar” Alejandra, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m Marisa “Mar” Alejandra, an Intuitive Astrologer specializing in Hellenistic and Lunar Astrology. From a young age, I turned to Astrology and divination to make sense of life’s twists and turns. What started as personal guidance soon became a lifelong journey of understanding my own intuitive gifts—and helping others unlock theirs.
Growing up, I was inspired by Astrology greats like Susan Miller and Linda Goodman, as well as the legendary Walter Mercado. The common thread between them? Hope. And that’s exactly where I lead from—especially in these wild astrological times. While some astrologers focus solely on love and relationships (which, don’t get me wrong, is always worth discussing), I’ve always been more interested in how we can work with astrological energies to evolve, thrive, and navigate life with intention.
My connection to the divine was nurtured by my mother, who shared her love of Astrology with me and my brother. She had our Natal Charts and Lunar Astrology Charts printed—back when that was a big deal—and I displayed mine like a proud badge of honor. She also made sure we were surrounded by Tarot, Oracle decks, and other divination tools, always encouraging us to explore. Being second-generation Mexican American, with a stepfather born in Indonesia, my home was a vibrant, spiritually eclectic space where all faiths were honored.
My mom always knew I had the gift—what she lovingly calls my “bruja” energy. For me, that’s a term of both endearment and empowerment. Learning about my chart wasn’t just an academic exercise—it was a moment of being truly seen. It helped me understand how energy moves through my life, how to harness it, and ultimately, how to help others do the same.
Astrology isn’t just about prediction; it’s an ancient language of empowerment. Our ancestors have worked with the stars since the 3rd millennium BCE—not as a crutch, but as a guide to evolution. Today, I believe we should approach it the same way: not to relinquish control, but to reclaim it.
Through my work, I aim to provide clarity, validation, and a deep sense of empowerment. Every astrological signature carries its own magick and transformative power—waiting to be unlocked by those ready to embrace it. My passion is helping others discover their unique gifts, talents, and life purpose, guiding them to live in alignment with their charts and the flow of the cosmos.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a road of sunshine and rainbows. Awakenings don’t arrive quietly—they crash in like storms. And I remind my clients of this often: What is here to awaken you will shake you.
For a long time, I doubted myself. I didn’t trust my intuition, second-guessed my insights, and convinced myself that I couldn’t offer readings until I felt absolutely certain in my abilities. I kept waiting for that moment of complete confidence—until life decided to throw me into the deep end.
My husband, my biggest supporter (and harshest critic), gifted me a reading with a well-known astrologer. I expected insight, maybe even a bit of validation. Instead, the reading was terrible. This astrologer told me that everything in my life was going to spiral into chaos and that even those closest to me would die. I was shocked. It sent me into a complete tailspin.
Panicked, I reached out to my astrology mentor. She listened patiently, then laughed and asked, But what do you feel and see?
I hesitated and said, Nothing like that.
She laughed again and said, Then why do you believe it?
And just like that, something clicked. I felt both silly and relieved. That moment made me realize—this wasn’t just something I did. It was my gift.
That night, I finally decided to trust myself. I gave a reading to a friend, and he told me it was the most resonant, life-changing reading he had ever received. And that’s how it started—one friend told another, and another, until I eventually launched my social media and began writing astrology insights for a dear friend of mine.
The lesson? Trust yourself. We are all blessed with intuition—we just tend to ignore it. But when you finally listen, it changes everything.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work merges ancient astrological wisdom with modern insight, guiding others through life’s cycles with clarity, validation, and empowerment. Every astrologer has their own style, and mine is all about keeping it real. I don’t expect anyone to check their chart every single day, but I do want people to work with the energy instead of feeling powerless to it. Mercury is always going to retrograde—we can’t live in fear of it. Astrology isn’t about dodging life’s challenges; it’s about learning how to navigate them with awareness and intention.
I’m known for making astrology both esoteric and accessible—bridging the mystical with the practical. I don’t just explain what the stars are doing; I help people understand how to work with these cosmic energies to align, evolve, and step into their power. To me, astrology isn’t just about prediction—it’s a path to self-discovery, growth, and transformation.
What sets me apart is my storytelling and deep respect for astrology’s lineage—especially how our ancestors have worked with the stars for millennia. I don’t see astrology as a crutch for answers but as a roadmap for empowerment. Growing up in a spiritually eclectic household where astrology, tarot, and various faiths were interwoven into daily life shaped my perspective. Astrology, to me, is a sacred language—one that helps us access intuition, reclaim our power, and navigate life with deeper awareness.
Whether through personal readings, writing, or my podcast, The Cosmic Crux, my goal is always the same: to offer insights that help people see themselves clearly, trust their intuition, and move through life with confidence and alignment.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
As a native Angeleno, my love for this city runs deep. From the botánicas in East Los Angeles, where my grandmother lived, to the New Age shops in Venice and my favorite farmers’ markets in Long Beach, LA is woven into my heart. This city holds so much history, and what I cherish most are its hidden gems—the cultural and spiritual enclaves that make it a true melting pot.
LA is the city of dreamers, but it’s hard to watch it become so commercialized. That’s why supporting small businesses is so important to me. They shaped my journey in ways I’ll always be grateful for. I remember picking up crystals at Native Visions in Cerritos, buying velas from a botánica in Bell Gardens, and discovering new oracle decks at The Eye of the Cat in Long Beach. These spaces weren’t just stores; they were sanctuaries of knowledge, tradition, and community. My hope is that we continue to celebrate and uplift the small businesses that have left such a lasting impact—because they are the true soul of LA.
