Today we’d like to introduce you to Lucy Smith.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up painting and drawing in Wilmington, Delaware. I started face painting in 2014 as a side gig and moved to LA in 2017 to work as a storyboard artist. I continued on with the face painting and I’ve been doing events ever since.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
COVID made things difficult for a couple of years. Gigs mostly disappeared for a while as people were getting their bearings. Pandemics are not conducive to makeup and body art, lol.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I make illustrative face painting art on people’s faces and bodies. I take requests and can paint anything from Elsa and company logos to rainbow unicorns and al pastor tacos.
What does success mean to you?
Being able to make a living doing what you love.
