Check Out LaReese Shockley’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to LaReese Shockley.

Hi LaReese, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I began personal training back in 2015 after completing a Certified personal training course in my Hometown Cleveland, Ohio. Immediately following, I opened a women’s only fitness studio. My clientele grew very quickly as I marketed myself as being the poster girl for “Fit is the new sexy”. My clientele ranged from Nurses, Therapists, nail techs, hair stylist,s etc so a lot of my marketing was also done for me by word of mouth. Being a young New trainer was amazing I learned so much quickly I got to experience so many different women from different walks of life. I realized training wasn’t just training for me. It was so much more it was my purpose, it was gods work, he literally had me speaking life into my clients every day. I was able to reach these ladies on a different level then just training them. My clients looked forward to seeing me and so did I. In 2017, I closed my fitness studio in Ohio to relocate to Las Vegas Nevada. It was the best decision I’ve ever made. I jumped out on faith while I was at my most successful point of my career to expand and be better.

While in Las Vegas, I was a traveling trainer and nutrition coach, I met so many amazing people during my journey. My two years living in Las Vegas taught me more about the importance of internal Health. Vegas was never my final stop, California was! 2019 I followed my dreams and moved to cali! As soon as I came to Cali the pandemic happened & I was pregnant with my baby boy. With the state being closed it gave me the ability to think and take my business to the next level virtually. I began online training, selling detox tea, waist trainers and meal plans. I began using social media and hashtagging “LA” and “Los Angeles personal trainer” which helped me so much to the point where within months I had the clientele I dreamed of having out here. Now I’m Currently traveling to my clients doing one on one training and working on an Ebook for women who struggle with weight loss, weight gain, postpartum things and so much more. I often get so many emails & Dm’s about how I naturally snapped back after my son I am so excited to share and help as many women as I can! I’m also planning to open my own unique fitness studio in the heart of DTLA 2024!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course, it wasn’t a smooth Road. I experienced grief right in the middle of my highest point of my career. That tested me so much mentally to stay on course. Then I upped and moved where I didn’t know a soul but I wanted more so rebranding myself in a state I didn’t know anything or anyone was very challenging going from being a well-known trainer to no one knowing you can humble you and make you question if you’re doing the right thing. I also tested myself a second time by moving to another state and then the pandemic happened. Those things always had me asking myself why don’t I just be content with the success I get and leave it at that. But the way I am I’m always seeing room for growth and I know my capabilities.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Certified Personal trainer. I specialize in weight loss & toning for women. I’m known for my Professionalism, I take pride in that. I’m most proud of my growth in the fitness industry. I’ve been able to hands-on and able to add so much to my resume because of just being in the field and doing what I love. My ability to understand that changing your life is mental. I approach fitness mentally so I train my clients to do so as well. Whatever you train the mind to do the body will follow.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Yes, that utilizing the internet more will keep you relevant. So many people gained weight during the pandemic and it just allowed me to be able to help people more without being physically there. It also even taught me how not being able to be social can make people depressed.
