Today we’d like to introduce you to Kwabena Kyei.
Kwabena, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I always had the passion to create; however how to create or what to create had always been my enigma. I tried a few things like acting, drawing, 3D Visual effects, and animation, which one of my friends told me about. I explored acting and drawing but nothing quite grabbed my attention the way 3D did.
I fell in love with the idea of being able to bring to life quite literally anything I wanted to in this 3D space.
After deciding that this was going to be the thing I pursued, I got into one of my dream schools “ Gnomon – School of Visual Effects, Games & Animation” with the help of my parents and friends.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I would say that 3D honestly is a difficult field to get into. You could spend countless hours, days, and months on a shot that lasts about 10 seconds and still might not be satisfied with the final result as work is only due, not finished. At the start of my journey, some of my toughest moments was looking at breathtaking pieces and believing that one day I could also make something just as good or better.

I am a 3D artist specializing in characters and creatures. I am known for making realistic-looking pieces. I am really proud of how long I have lasted and my strong belief in myself on this journey. I believe what sets me apart from others is my patience when problem-solving, layer by layer, and my stubbornness when trying to achieve high standards and dissatisfaction after I call a piece “finished” because I know it can always be better.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I believe what has helped me a lot so far is my perseverance and my hunger for knowledge to get better at my craft. I am patient enough to know that things get better with time and introspective enough to know that I do not know everything.
