Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Rios.

Hi Kevin, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Kevin. I am a Mexican-American film director. I started my journey in the industry in 2019. However, growing up I was always inclined to watch and create content. Certain movies like Interstellar and The Conjuring always peaked my curiosity about the movie-making process. When I finally got started I didn’t get much work but I bought a camera and started creating work for myself. I started shooting videos independently, doing music videos, commercials, and short films. I worked alongside my best friend and one of the most talented cinematographers I know today, Alexander Flanagan. We came up together doing all sorts of gigs, creating our paths. I didn’t know anyone in this industry. No one opened the door for me. I had to make my door, By growing my network and being consistent. For the last couple of years, things have been flowing for me. I made sure I worked all positions on a film set. I wasn’t to excited about it because my passion is directing and writing. However, I believe that to be a great director, one has to have knowledge of everything going down on a film set. So for the next couple of years, I worked in Camera, production design, and sound.
As I was doing all that I still stuck to directing. I got to direct a lot of music videos and I learned that was something I like to do. I shot videos for artists like SIYA, Rican Da Menace, and Jayne Gray.
To this day I am still doing music videos but I am now trying to transition into the feature film world. At the end of the day, I got into this industry to make movies. As for where I am currently in my life, I am now happy to say I am in the development of my first feature film ” Sins of The Guilty”. I collaborated with a talented writer, Anthony Mina, to create a unique piece of horror. I am excited to bring this movie to life and share it with the world.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest struggles was not knowing anyone in this industry. But I know that is a problem tons of successful people face all the time. I just had to expand my network and get to know more people. I have learned to become more of a social person which has led me to new opportunities.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I work in the film industry. I specialize in directing and cinematography. I have gotten to make tons of music videos and commercials. One of the first music videos I did was called “Pull Up’ by Levi Zadoff. It won the award for best first-time film director at the International Music Video Festival. That was a big moment because it gave me the confidence to keep directing music videos. I am also currently in the development of my first feature film “SIns of The Guilty” It’s a horror story that I have been developing with the talented writer, Anthony Mina, I have been thinking about making this film for a long time now. Looking forward to sharing this unique piece of horror with the world

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
My favorite part about LA is how diverse it is and also how many people live here. I meet people from all over the world here. I am always open to meeting new people. my least favorite part about LA is the driving and the traffic. it’s not such a serious issue but it’s annoying to get around LA.
