Check Out Kelly Elsas’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Elsas.

Kelly Elsas

Hi Kelly, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Of course! Thank you so much for having me. I’m so happy to be back.

I am originally from the East Coast. I was born in New York and grew up in a little town in New Jersey. I went to college and moved to New York City. After a couple of years, I got an offer to complete a one-year program in filmmaking on the Gold Coast of Australia. I was honestly so nervous! I honestly loved my life in New York City at the time too. After a couple of months, I decided to take the offer and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. I have the best memories from that period of my life.

From there, I qualified for a scholarship for the master’s program in filmmaking at the New York Film Academy at their LA campus. After graduating, my goal was to get on-set as many times as I could. I was so excited to be asked to do on-camera work. Now, I work really hard with my acting coach and trainer. I’m so thankful for my manager and my agent too.I’m so excited about what’s to come.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Haha I love this question. It has definitely not always been a smooth road. But, that’s not a bad thing. If you let it, some of your biggest challenges can be your greatest teachers.

Personally, my biggest challenge is overcoming doubt. But, I accepted it and knew early on that any goal will include challenges, setbacks and obstacles. We all have access to the experiences we’ve dreamed of. It’s just a matter of putting in the time. To stay focused, I use the theory of compounding. If I invest the time, stay dedicated, and take it one step at a time; the results will come when they’re meant to.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Of course! I love working on hyper-creative projects. There’s an elevated energy to sets where everyone truly cares about the script. I’m honestly so grateful for all of the projects I’ve worked on to date.

I hope what sets me apart is the level of dedication that I give to each project. I treat every job like it’s the last one I will ever work on. It creates a heightened level of focus and appreciation for each step of finalizing images and film. In all elements of my life, I really rely on my intuition when I am making decisions.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
I love the time that I’ve spent with my brothers, Greg and Reed.

This is funny. My childhood best friend, Mara and I, were obsessed with Steve Irwin. He’s such a legend! We must have been 5 or 6 years-old. We would spend all day running around the beach looking for sharks and crocodiles. My family had a dock and we would search for any kind of sea life we could find. On our best day, we would find oysters and tiny crabs. We were really excited about it. It was such a big deal to us.
