Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaye Fox
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I got started in the music industry professionally at 15 years old. I was in a girl group that had a deal. Once we’d broken up I ended up meeting N.O. ID who was Kanye’s mentor at the time we started working together. I was a part of his writing team. while shooting songs around that he and I had created I ended up getting signed to a solo deal as an artist by Tina Davis at Def Jam. The label had some administrative changes and I got shelved in the process.
I took sometime to work with producers and writers from Chicago for a few years before moving to Los Angeles. I got a chance to hone my skills as a writer and arranger during that time No I.D, called me to return to his camp and I began to create with him for the artists that have helped shape my career.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I wish I could say it has been a smooth road. lol! It had been all of the things. Up, down, exciting, disappointing, amazing and heartbreaking. Creating art is living!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’ve always been an artist. Singer, songwriter, arranger, producer and actor.
I specialize in capturing the moment. Meaning I specialize in being able to excel in any role that’s given to me. I can read the room and shine in all of them.
I’ve been the most successful in a background and supporting role. It’s changed my life and taught me so many lessons. I’m most proud of the fact that I haven’t given up on my love for music. When one avenue didn’t work out like I thought it would I became malleable. The gift of being around genius is you get to learn how and why you are one.
What sets me apart is my experience, perseverance and longevity. The gems I’ve learned on my path are priceless.
What matters most to you?
Freedom matters to me most. It means I’ll always be open minded and eager to learn. I’ll never stop growing, reinventing or evolving.
