Check Out Katie Leclerc’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Leclerc.

Katie Leclerc

Hi Katie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started as an actor and worked in Los Angeles for the last 22 years. It took 10 years to get a show or anything where anyone would recognize me. I got to have my dream job for about six years on a show called Switched At Birth. Meanwhile, Brett Davern was also on an acting journey on his show Awkward on MTV. We met on set filming a Sony movie called Party Boat, and Nice Guy Digital was formed. We have a daily morning show (The Brett Davern Show), 2 Seattle sports-based shows (Take 12 and Release The Show), and several others that are under the Nice Guy umbrella.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We were lucky to partner with really great mentors. Brett had already been doing the show for about a year, and when I took over is when it became more of a morning show. I think audience members like to grow with the show and the evolution was needed. We struggled to build an audience at first, but we kept saying we were building brick by brick.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m known for being an actor but have learned how to produce as well along the way. I’m most recognizable from Switched At Birth but have been in numerous projects along the way. I’m proud that I’m still here. I started acting at 15 and I’m just now starting to feel like a veteran in this business. I’m positive, professional, and I’m passionate. I love getting to tell stories and I like to imagine that the audience is being engaged and learns something about themselves by the entertainment we provide. I also have an incredibly loud laugh. Haha

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I love this creative industry because an audience sees themselves in storytelling. A good story builds community; it brings people together. Our podcasts are supposed to feel like you’re listening to a group of friends hang out. Hopefully, that’s comforting to the listener as well!
