Today we’d like to introduce you to Kate Bode.
Hi Kate, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I always knew from my childhood what I wanted to pursue – music, singing, creativity. Music has been intertwined with my entire life; each song carries me through various memories – childhood adventures, education, friendships, love, experiences, victories, and defeats. I dedicated a substantial part of my life to vocal training, honing my skills, performing solo and in groups, winning international competitions. Now, here I am in the USA, the land where dreams come true. All my favorite artists, movies, everything, originates from here, and I consider myself practically a part of this culture.
In the USA, I engage with diverse individuals from the music and show business worlds, exchanging ideas and experiences. It’s a unique energy exchange, and when it happens with like-minded people charged with the creativity process, magic is born.
I crossed paths with Stevie Mackey, my vocal coach, an immensely talented and inspiring musical figure. He fuels my motivation, believes in me, and helps me unfold as an artist. I deeply value this friendship and am immensely grateful for the guidance he provides for my development.
Future plans include recording and releasing new songs, composing original pieces, and promoting them. Of course, I aspire to secure a contract with a major record label.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My life has never been tranquil since I chose such a challenging path. There have been numerous highs and lows, but I always continue marching towards my dream. It’s my character, and of course, my family and close ones have always supported me. When I moved to Los Angeles, many things were unclear to me – how things work here in the States, where to find a job, how to connect with the right people and managers. Besides, I needed to sustain myself, pay for an apartment, a car, find like-minded individuals, and not forget to build my career. It’s a different world, starting from scratch, regardless of who or what you were before.
Another challenge was the need to maintain legal status here. In the shortest time, I gathered a pile of documents, over a thousand pages. I obtained a talent visa, granting me the right to live and work here. Many thanks to the people who assisted me: Keri Kelsey, Todd Hunter, Dori Amarilio. I met some of them even before the pandemic when I first arrived in LA. On the path to something significant, there are always uncertain difficulties; it all depends on how ready and willing you are. If they have seen talent in you, and you have the strength and a strong desire, everything will work out, and the right team will inevitably come together.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am working on various songs, including my own. I perform at different events; for instance, I sang on Labor Day, which was my first major performance. I collaborate and record songs with other singers. I manage my Instagram, where I share covers of popular songs.
Regarding my original songs, Los Angeles has been a tremendous inspiration for me. Thanks to open mic events, I’ve connected with many talented individuals. Various new sounds started coming to my mind, evolving into songwriting. It’s amazing – I never thought I’d seriously delve into composing music and lyrics. Although I often had music without lyrics come to me in dreams, I awoke, recorded something on my phone, but they were just fragments that couldn’t form a complete song. Now, inspiration has struck, and I feel capable of sharing the music I create with others. Music makes me authentic. I am proud to have moved to the United States, to California. Here, I am evolving as an artist, interacting with true professionals, and pursuing my dream of becoming a recording artist. I want to share my inner world with a large audience through my songs.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Everyone who has chosen the path of an artist must undoubtedly have a backbone to achieve serious goals. It’s crucial to have a profound love for what you do, be professionally prepared, believe in yourself, ignore what is said behind your back, be resilient, perform your work at the highest level, and constantly evolve. Additionally, it’s essential to listen to your inner voice, have a sense of humor, be flexible, and surround yourself with interesting and kind people. Without like-minded individuals and the right people by your side, success is hard to achieve.
