Check Out Jillian Bryce’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jillian Bryce.

Jillian Bryce

Hi Jillian, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Growing up in Calabasas, I excelled in cheer and other athletics – but I wasn’t actually exposed to Yoga until I went to college at the University of Arizona. While amongst my peers in a new setting, I began my own journey towards self-discovery and realized I had the ability to connect with others on a deeper, more spiritual level. I leaned into this energy and began aligning my fitness & spiritual goals, which has manifested into the career I have now as one of Los Angeles’ leading Yoga Instructors.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey itself has been extremely rewarding, but not without its hurdles – including a battle with short-term memory loss from a car accident during my high school years. This has shaped my discipline & work ethic as I require a few extra reps with any new knowledge or sequence to really ingrain it in my being. However, this has also become a superpower of mine as I tend to connect to whatever sequence I’m teaching in a unique way – and my students have repeatedly shared how present I feel with them while we all sweat together in a 110-degree room. So like anything in my life, I tend to use these things that were once the cause of deep frustration as fuel by embracing them & accepting them in the moment as if I chose them, just as Eckhart Tolle says.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a 550hr Certified Yoga Instructor & Spiritual Coach with an emphasis on helping others overcome self-limiting beliefs, past traumas, and other spiritual blockages while pushing them to reach their highest fitness potential. The bulk of my work is Hot Yoga & Private Coaching sessions across Los Angeles and Zoom, but I also teach outdoor sessions on weekends (especially when the June gloom isn’t around!). Personally, I bring a deep level of vulnerability and honesty to my work as it is a very cathartic process for me and helps curate a safe space for my students. This approach has allowed me to heal my own past wounds and get out of my own way so the attention remains fully on my students moment-to-moment.

My commitment to student empowerment and personal growth is something I decided on very early on back in College when I saw many people struggling with identity and self-esteem issues in a world where Social Media creates a feeling of not having or being enough as we compare ourselves to everyone’s highlights. So, on my journey back to SoCal, I sought an environment that was conscious of this when first returning to LA from Arizona, and unfortunately struggled to find anything close in many of the more corporate Yoga institutions around the city.

As someone who has always feared public speaking to now have that as a critical part of my profession is something I really love about myself. Overcoming fears and obsolete belief systems is NEVER easy. I felt like an outsider for many years, and never would I have imagined that my effort to create a space that allows individuals to disconnect from the pressures or issues they experience in the outside world would come to fruition. Giving back through my teaching by leading with love, compassion, enthusiasm, and an open mind at the forefront has attracted a significant number of regular students & like-minded people to my work, and I am forever grateful. Whether it’s in Southern California or elsewhere around the world, society seems to be shifting in a way that people gravitate more toward my person-to-person approach rather than the traditional teacher-to-student dynamic.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Authenticity and Attitude. Those two things can take you very far and I’ve learned firsthand that if I’m 100% myself, that is my strength. And I’ve also learned that no matter what the world throws my way, remaining optimistic even when it seems crazy really is the best advice I can give to anyone. Trust yourself and trust your vision.
