Today we’d like to introduce you to Jazmine Lucero.
Jazmine, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
From the classic “rags to riches”, my journey as a recording artist has been an incredible rollercoaster ride. Music has always been in my blood, with my grandparents singing at family reunions and uncles strumming guitars, creating a vibrant musical environment. From a young age, I found solace in dancing, craving the stage and the spotlight where I could entertain and captivate audiences. My musical career started when I joined a pop band called Mozaik, singing and performing at several shows and events. Shortly after, I formed a dynamic duo with my brother, known as Jcity. Together, we took our talents to renowned venues like the Roxy, the Mint, and the House of Blues, leaving our mark on the music scene. I even had the honor of performing at Life is Beautiful in Las Vegas, a thrilling experience that further fueled my determination.
Throughout my journey, I’ve had the privilege of working with exceptional producers and songwriters, such as Joseph Macklin, Ayo the Producer, Courtlin Jabrae, and many more. Collaborating with these talented individuals has not only enhanced my skills as an artist but also expanded my creative horizons.
However, my journey has had its hardships. I endured humble beginnings, sharing a bedroom in an apartment with my mom and sister with only one bathroom for nine people. We moved frequently, at times seeking stability with various relatives. In the early days of social media, I tasted a hint of “fame”, yet I struggled to comprehend its potential as a career. I grappled with the pressures and responsibilities that came with even a small following, constantly creating content and battling self-doubt, solely judged by likes, views, and comments.
Amidst this whirlwind, I had the opportunity to tour with a boy band, witnessing their meteoric rise to global stardom while experiencing a contrasting reality of dwindling dreams and a diminishing following. The demands of creativity, a public relationship, and family/financial struggles became overwhelming, eventually pushing me to step away and reevaluate my path.
Yet, through the highs and lows, I never lost sight of my passion, purpose, and the story I yearned to tell through my music. Having weathered storms and navigated uncharted waters, I stand here today, resilient and determined. I am ready to embrace the challenges I know await me and, even more thrillingly, to tackle the unforeseen obstacles that lie ahead. I am primed to share my experiences, my growth, and my authentic voice with the world, believing that my journey has shaped me into the artist I was destined to become.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road to success. Along my journey as a recording artist, I encountered numerous struggles that tested my resilience and determination. One of the significant challenges was the constant uncertainty and financial instability that accompanied my pursuit of a music career. Growing up, I always shared a bedroom with my mom and sister, with like nine other people squeezing into a single bathroom. This humble living situation made it difficult to find the space and resources to fully dedicate myself to my craft. Moreover, I had the unique experience of having young parents who were still figuring themselves out. They separated when I was very young, and as a result, I found myself constantly going back and forth between my mom and dad. This constant movement and adjustment added another layer of complexity to my upbringing as I navigated the challenges of maintaining a sense of stability and nurturing my passion for music.
During my time in the group, we encountered various hurdles as well. Some members decided to take different paths or start families, which posed challenges to our collective vision and unity. However, despite these obstacles, I remained steadfast in my determination to keep moving forward toward my dream. I knew deep down that I wanted to share my music story and inspire others who come from humble beginnings, showing them that anything is possible with dedication and belief in oneself.
Through all the ups and downs, the hardships and uncertainties, I have learned valuable lessons about resilience, perseverance, and the strength of the human spirit. My journey has shaped me into an artist who not only possesses a deep understanding of the struggles and complexities of life but also carries a burning desire to create music that resonates with you on a profound level.
I am grateful for the challenges I have faced, as they have shaped me into the artist I am today.

How do you define success?
Success, to me, is not solely defined by external achievements or accolades. While those can be important markers of progress, true success goes beyond material accomplishments. It is a deeply personal and subjective concept.
For me, success is about living a fulfilling and purposeful life aligned with my passions and values. It’s about finding joy and fulfillment in what I do and making a positive impact on the lives of others through my work. Success is the feeling of contentment and satisfaction that comes from knowing that I have stayed true to myself, pursued my dreams, and made a difference in the world, no matter how small.
It is also about personal growth and continuous improvement. Success involves pushing beyond my comfort zone, embracing challenges, and learning from both successes and failures. It is about constantly evolving as an individual and an artist, honing my craft, and striving for excellence.
Ultimately, success is a journey, not a destination. It is the ongoing pursuit of my dreams and the ability to find fulfillment and happiness along the way. It is about creating a meaningful legacy that extends beyond my own lifetime, touching and inspiring others through my music and the stories I tell.
