Check Out Janine Schaffer’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janine Schaffer.

Janine Schaffer

Hi Janine, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a medical aesthetician in Marina del Rey. I’ve been in the industry for over six years and couldn’t see myself doing anything else! While searching for a job after I received my bachelor’s degree, I stumbled into a role with a high-profile plastic surgeon. I fell in LOVE with the aesthetic field. I would see the aestheticians at work and dreamed of doing the same. After being in a managerial role for a couple of years, I took the leap and went to school to become an aesthetician. I got my license and secured a job at Aesthetic MDR with Dr. Luis Macias, and I truly enjoy going to “work”. Is it work when you like it so much?

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I do believe that obstacles and struggles make the end result so much better. I was pregnant and gave birth to my first son when I went through esthetician school. If you have kids and you know the shock of this life-changing event then you’ll understand what I’m saying. I’m so proud of myself that I got through it and now have my dream job.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I offer a variety of treatments, such as facials, microneedling, dermaplane, chemical peels, and coolsculpting. I specialize in creating treatment plans that will give the best results in transforming your skin. I am most proud of the results I have been able to get with my patients. I take the time with each person I meet to truly get to know what works for their skin. My dedication to each individual patient’s journey has set me apart from others.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
In this field, you have to be aggressive and take risks because you never know what can come out of it. I was lucky to be surrounded by great peers and aestheticians that have been in the field for years that helped guide me along the way. My advice for anyone that’s looking to get into the field is to seek professionals you look up to and just ask to shadow them. I love teaching and would be open to anyone wanting to gain knowledge and experience.
