Check Out Jake Jeong’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jake Jeong

Hi Jake, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started messing around with music in high school and really became serious with it during my time at Berklee College of Music. From there, I dove straight into the freelance world, working with indie artists, sound design remakes, mixing, and teaching music production.

Today, I’m a music producer at ‘Myst Music’, a South Asian label based in LA. I also write dance music under my artist project, ‘Frison’.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s definitely been a rollercoaster. As with many creative work, there’s lots of financial ups and downs. You’re constantly balancing the excitement of new projects with the anxiety of securing the next gig.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a pop producer by day, EDM artist/producer by night. During the day I work as a producer for ‘Myst Music’ – a South Asian label with a focus on Western-Indian crossover pop music. Recently we produced a single for Jacqueline Fernandez, a popular Bollywood actress, and the music video is sitting on 8m views at the moment. That was my first major placement and I’m pretty proud of that.

Beyond my pop work, I’m also known for my EDM projects under the name ‘Frison’. My sound is best described of a strong melodic influence (Porter Robinson, Flume) paired with modern sounds from bass music (Skrillex). I’ve done a lot of remixes and collaborations, and had the privilege of hearing my music on radio stations as well as in DJ sets from famous artists.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories is staying up late playing my Nintendo DS. Especially Mario Kart. I played that game everyday for years in middle school. I remember beating all the time trials and being so proud of myself lol.
