Check Out Jackie Romero’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackie Romero.

Hi Jackie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.

I always loved makeup and the beauty industry altogether! I never planned on doing makeup full time, but I come from an artistic background and thought it might be fun to take a course in order to learn how to do it on myself and friends for fun. I loved the makeup program so much and felt I learned a lot from my teacher with whom I became very close with. When I graduated, she immediately started referring me to work on photo shoots, clients, and other projects and it accidentally turned into a full-time job for me. I am beyond grateful that it did as half the time I don’t even feel like I am working. I have the best clients and love being a part of such happy and important events in people’s lives.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course, like anything else, it takes hard work to get to where you want to be. Over the years I definitely had to learn some lessons. Something I always remind myself and others is that when you stick to something and focus on the positive aspects and what you love about your job, it will just keep taking you to the next level. I started doing makeup when I was 19 and wasn’t sure on what area of the beauty industry I wanted to focus on so that definitely created some confusion and split focus. Now at 30, I know what I like to focus on and the type of events, clientele, and style I want to appeal to. One bad day is not enough to cancel out all the other amazing days.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Makeup Artist who specializes in weddings, special events, and photo shoots. I feel like I am known for doing Brides and I absolutely
love the more glammed-up looks! I truly love connecting with my clients and I think that is probably what sets me apart from others. I
love creating a great experience for everyone I work on and creating a look that is unique to their style so that they feel like the best version of themselves no matter what the occasion is.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I feel for me the main characteristic I have that has contributed to my success is that I truly love what I do and always go into every appointment with a positive attitude and give it my all.
