Check Out J’ Atelier9™️’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to J’ Atelier9 ™️ .

J’ Atelier9 ™️

Hi J’ Atelier9 ™️, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Growing up as a Chinese immigrant to America, I always felt I gravitated towards drawing & creative expressions.

After the Covid global pandemic, I pivoted from the corporate world as I felt an urge to execute my artistic endeavors and implement my concepts of sustainability. I wanted to be the architect my own creations.

Through my artisan brand, J ‘ Atelier9 ™️, I founded my outlet to disrupt the transcendent beauty of innovative repurposing through my works by merging vibrant hues, visual forms, fluid shapes, and utilizing mindful techniques.

J’ Atelier9 ™️ is colored by impact, from merging the interconnectedness of the world through awareness, voicing society’s sensationalism of media, global discourse, planet preservation, political divide, glorification of materialism, complex emotions, parallels and facets of duplicity..

I experiment and blend pigmented acrylic paints and textured paste onto layers of newsprint, ephemera, recycled bags, and repurposed objects – while juxtaposing the dichotomy of consumerism against responsible adaptive reuses of sustainable elements.

My deeply rooted humble childhood & cultural upbringing conditioned me to reuse & repurpose at an early age. This philosophy has extended over to my sustainable mindset. My discipline focuses on my movement towards a circular environmental cycle by sourcing reclaimed materials into my practice to heighten impact on carbon footprint, while telling a story.

I selectively build with eco-conscious materials as the substrate, and allow my intuitive process to reach its pinnacle by highlighting the inherent patina, imperfection, or rawness of my work. The environmental contribution is commingled into my narrative, as the art speaks of my personal experiences and draws from its tangencies.

Hand crafted and reconstructed, my works reflect an insightful tapestry of ethereal, unconventional, whimsical, and sustainable; architecting unusual textures, and composition, while infusing bold hues of expansive contrast and mood.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I was optimistically naive when I began my artistic endeavors. What initially appeared as a smooth road was far from the truth. I realize creativity, business, rejection, time management, connections, relationships, capital, endorsements, sponsors, marketing, and exposure are each equally at play.

The challenges of being selective with your limited time, resources, capital allocation has been an arduous task. You realize you must narrow down your exhibits, submissions, applications, memberships, interviews, shows, and participation as it’s very easy to get pulled into various directions and spread yourself too thin. There’s constant noise amidst the chaos; it can be distracting to fall down a slippery slope.

Focus & selective energy have become my weapon of choice.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
