Check Out Isabel Ramirez’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Isabel Ramirez.

Isabel Ramirez

Hi Isabel, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
We started in 2012 as a pop-up at the Cypress swapmeet, did that for about a year, and then just stopped doing it for a while until my husband, and I decided it was time leave our normal 9-5 jobs and start working for us… in 2017 we cashed out our savings and our 401k’s and bought a food truck. We officially opened our windows in September of 2018, and it’s been an amazing experience ever since.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There will always be bumps on the road; our first year was very slow, and on top of that, we had mechanical issues that forced us to shut down for a couple of months. Nothing that we could overcome, and then Covid hit, forcing us to close our windows once again.

There will always be ”something” we just have to be prepared to know how to handle it and I think that’s what makes us better.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We own and operate a mobile dessert truck specializing in funnel cakes, churros, and all kinds of deep-fried goodies. It’s not just fair food; it’s a step above. I think that we are most proud of being able to do what we love and being part of a community that enjoys what we put out.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out.
Before anything, set up a goal, make a plan, and don’t give up because you’re going to fail a few times, but use those failures as lessons. Don’t let them crush your dreams. Get up, hustle, and continue with your plan. At the end of the road, there is no better satisfaction than seeing your dream become a reality.
