Check Out Hendrick’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hendrick

Hi Hendrick, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always been drawn to creative expression, especially through design. My journey started with an interest in fashion and graphic design, which evolved as I explored various mediums like Sewing, Printmaking, and Graphic design. After working for a luxury brand like Chrome Hearts, I honed my skills and developed a deeper understanding of craftsmanship and the fashion industry. Along the way, I founded my own brand, Roadkill, which combines my passion for streetwear with alternative art mediums and music.

Today, I work for Nothing Personal, designing everything from clothing to packaging for different clients while also growing my own studio in downtown LA. I’ve always been inspired by pushing boundaries in design, whether it’s working on custom projects or creating unique products that reflect both my environment and the culture around me.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s definitely had its challenges. Coming from a background where resources were limited, I had to be creative and work with what I had to get into the design industry. Along the way, I’ve seen that the industry can sometimes feel out of reach for those who don’t have the same opportunities starting out. But those challenges have shaped my perspective and driven me to work even harder to make my mark.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Currently, outside of my freelance work, I enjoy spending my time learning new techniques and mediums to integrate into my brand. In my studio, I might be sewing a pair of leather shorts one day and learning how to pour concrete the next. Roadkill emphasizes its never-ending evolution… I’m always drawing inspiration from new encounters, ideas, and moments.

Roadkill is best known for our magazine, which comes out annually and spans over 100 pages—all designed in-house. In such a saturated market, having a product that is authentic to the brand helps showcase our best work, from music and clothing to graphic design. Most of what you see nowadays is a cheap copy of a cheap copy. We take pride in creating media that challenges the norms of modern social media culture, allowing us to produce a standalone product that can’t easily be replicated.

Any big plans?
