Today we’d like to introduce you to Hamilton Evans.
Hi Hamilton, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I moved to Los Angeles in 2013, all the way from a small village across the pond In the United Kingdom. The reason being, I wanted a bigger challenge in my life with plenty of room for growth and to build on my success as a choreographer. The challenge was indeed a challenge and still I, but along the way, I managed to Stack up a few credits to my resume such as Americas Got Talent, The Masked Singer, People’s Choice Awards & most recently Shania Twain’s 2023 Tour to name a few. I also managed to secure a permanent teaching position at the world-renowned, Millennium Dance Complex.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
To get to where I am now I have faced many challenges and still do each day but I am grateful for all of them as they allow me to grow, learn and become a better person along the way. I have learnt over the years of living in Los Angeles that you just have to give 100% to whatever life throws your way, both in career and personal life.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I would say that I specialize in being a dance instructor. My first love is definitely teaching a room of students that have chosen to be taught by me. I have been teaching for over a decade now and I each week I continue to do it, I fall in love with it again every time. I do not have a specific “proud” moment but I will say I am always proud when I am able to get through to students and see them continue to excel over time and turn being a great dancer into an excellent one. So I’d guess you could say my proudest moments are seeing my my mentorship can bring out the best in people.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Honestly, if I continued just to be an instructor the rest of my life, I’d be more than happy. I do have a couple of goals though. Over the past few years, I have managed to lock in a couple of U.S & European Tours into my choreographic Resume. But, a major goal of mine would be to choreograph a World Tour and possibly a major Dance heavy Movie.
