Today we’d like to introduce you to Haley Sheldon
Hi Haley, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
When I first moved to LA, I started out working at a grocery store. I remember seeing personal assistants come in to order for their extremely successful clients, and I remember thinking to myself that one day I will be the one to shop here rather than work here. I worked every moment that I could making content, doing photo shoots, and searching for job opportunities that could make me achieve my dreams. I was able to find two companies that I freelanced for, but eventually realized that I wanted to do this on my own; I started heavily creating on TikTok and grew my following; I also started getting bookings with my photography just from being discovered through the Explore page! After months of working a day job and then pursuing my own dreams, I eventually was able to find a full-time social media job so that I could keep doing what I love. On the side of this job I also do create my own content which I hope to make a living from one day, but right now I am just enjoying the journey of where I used to be versus where I am now because it’s so different and I’m so thankful!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely wasn’t easy; there were days I came home from an eight hour shift of my day job and went straight to emails and editing or making more content for myself. A lot of the times I wouldn’t really spend much time with my husband which was hard but it got me to where I am now and it’s continuing to grow me and I’m thankful for it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I mainly do social media creation for my day job at a real estate company. I specialize in short form videos as well as photography which I do more of in my personal pages. My day job just helps me achieve my own dreams by funding the equipment and other things that I need. Everyone has always known me to take the “most aesthetic photos”; which is a compliment that I’m proud of and thankful that I am one of the few that looks outside the box when it comes to photography and short form videos!
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I’m sure some people probably know this but a lot of the times I am an extreme perfectionist; if one thing doesn’t look right in a video I will re-shoot the whole thing.. lol. A lot of the times I also don’t think that my videos or my photos are worthy even though I am successful in a way in those areas. Self-doubt happens a lot more than a lot of people think but every day I am trying to battle it and realize that I am enough
