Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
That’s a loaded question. It’s already a struggle enough trying to compete for parts as an actor in Los Angeles. But to switch gears and pursue singing is whole other ball game. I enjoy it but realize there’s so much more to it than writing, singing, and producing. The marketing part is so daunting. You’re just guessing who your audience might be. I just create music that comes to me and didn’t think of an audience. I am pursuing my art form and how I want to express it. I literally pull movie scenes from my head and draw a story I want people to resonate with. I want to take you on a journey when you listen my music. So, I would say that that is my biggest struggle is marketing my music to reach an audience that gets me.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I believe what sets my music apart from others is that it’s deeper than a bop. I’m about the story and how it makes you feel. I feel some kind of way and realize I can’t be the only one that thinks like this. So, it’s kind of a subtle message to my audience of do you feel this way? I feel it takes you to a story that others can relate to.

What were you like growing up?
Omg! I was such a ringleader. I was a very imaginative little girl. I would watch cartoons and movies and play with my siblings to act like the characters. I would draw on walls, cut up hair and sheets, and play make-believe. But I was very shy as I became a teenager. Being at that age I was insecure but masked my insecurities with makeup and fashion. During those years, I secretly loved poetry and had an obsession with movies. I did feel like the pressure of being popular was so ridiculous. I couldn’t wait to be done with school.
