Today we’d like to introduce you to FredWreck.
Hi FredWreck, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started out in my musical journey through the birth of hip hop. Breakdancing with my friends led me into Djing and Producing music. From there I Djed on the radio 92.3 The Beat on The Wake Up Show which allowed me to play my beats and remixes on the radio. This gave me the opportunity to meet artists and record company people that I could give my songs and beats to.
Networking with artists and people in the industry gave me the chance to meet people like Snoop and Dr. Dre who were both starting their own record companies and journey into becoming more independent as artists and having control of the music they release.
Music has taken me all around the world from Egypt to France and beyond. It’s even given me the opportunity to do other creative things like television and music for films.
Five years ago Snoop asked me to Co-Host his Tv show with Martha Stewart and we were off on another adventure with Snoop & Martha’s Potluck Dinner Party on VH-1.
In 2020, I got to collaborate with the amazingly talented Anderson Paak on the Oxnard and Ventura albums which earned me my first Grammy Award for Best RnB Album.
Then in 2022, I was fortunate enough to help Dr. Dre & Snoop on their legendary performance on the Super Bowl Half Time Show.
You can listen to my latest work on the Mount Westmore album featuring Snoop Dogg, Too Short, Ice Cube & E40!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The only struggles and obstacles for me have been myself. Everyone has the chance to follow their dreams, every door that closes opens up another opportunity. As long as I’m doing what I love with people that are on a creative journey together, that’s all the matters at the end of the day. Collaborating with other passionate people helps to get over challenges and be more creative because were all basically on the same journey together. It’s the people that make it worthwhile to me.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I produce and write music. This starts from creating the beat playing keyboards, guitar or other instruments to recording and engineering the artist and trying to get the best performance out of them. I’m proud of every musical creation I’ve worked on because knowing that people all around the world can hear my work is very special to me. And music lives forever so I try to put my all into every collaboration.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
People make me happy because were all part of the same universal energy. Music makes me happy because you can listen to sounds in any language and still get a special feeling. Food makes me happy because it brings people together from different cultures and backgrounds. Movies make me happy because it gives me an opportunity to escape and be inspired.
