Check Out Drorit Pobuta’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Drorit Pobuta.

Hi Drorit, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I searched my way through yoga class after yoga class with the purpose of finding a physical activity that would keep my body, strong and fit, yet be kind to it for years to come. I finally arrived when I found that one class that spoke to me on so many levels. When I left class, my body felt so strong and energized, and my soul felt so at home. I knew I had found something special that I would hold onto, and eventually would be yearning to share with others. From there, the practice of yoga became my major form of fitness, as well as a magical path to self-discovery, the practice of keeping an open heart, and realizing that there are no walls, differences, definitions, or separations between human beings. My understanding of life changed and continued to evolve. Now nothing gives me more joy than sharing how this experience changed my life.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a wonderful and gratifying journey. Of course, just like anything else, there are bumps in the road, but I treat my studio and my business more as a labor of love than anything else, thereby keeping those bumps in perspective. Of course, Covid had a huge effect on my yoga studio as it did on so many businesses, but we made it and more grateful than ever. Any and all challenges have been great learning experiences. Maybe the most challenging has been the dramatic shift in yoga studios in general over the last ten years. My roots began with local and private, intimate studios and classes. So the shift to corporate chains, gyms, memberships and multi-million dollar studios has definitely had an effect. However, you continue to do what you love and choose aligned instructors who do the same and the gifts just keep coming.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I opened Agoura Power of Yoga 15 years ago, and have been an instructor of yoga for the last 23 years. My goal and passion is to share a form of physical fitness that is life-changing on several levels: physical strength, alignment, breath work, and helping people find more peace and joy in their lives. It’s clear to me that the practice of yoga feels like quite a hurdle to a majority of people, and I strongly believe in meeting people where they’re at so that they feel confident and excited to endeavor a new practice that will ultimately service a monumental addition to their lives.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned from the practice of yoga, in general, is embracing the concept of patience. Not making any quick decisions, quick fears or quick changes. Day to day, the answers will show up, and that’s exactly what happened during the Covid – 19 crisis. It seemed at first, that might be the end of a beautiful era for my Yoga, community and myself. But we all took it day by day until we all arrived right back, where we started, together again, and are beloved yoga space!
