Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Michelle.
Hi Diana, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Back in 2019, I came across a nail art video on Instagram while I was at my previous hospital job. I thought it was so creative, and seconds later I ordered everything I needed to start doing nails. I spent hundreds of dollars on something I’ve never done. I also had no idea if I was even going to like this new hobby. I had no sense of direction of what my goal with nails was. I never thought I’d be disciplined enough to turn it into a career. It took a lot of practice, hard work, and research to get to where I’m at now. I sacrificed my full-time job to build my clientele and focus on other aspects of my nail business. It took a lot of time and patience to become the nail tech I am now. This is just the beginning for my nail business. Now that I know what my end goal is, I will continue to improve in every aspect, continue to always be eager to new knowledge, and remember why I even started all this in the first place and use that as motivation to keep going even when I want to give up.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting any business, especially on your own, definitely comes with some struggles. When I began doing nails, I wanted to practice any chance I could. I specialize in acrylic nails, and in order to do acrylic nails, you need to use a chemical called monomer which is very strong. The smell is almost unbearable to some. At the time I began doing nails, I was renting a room in someone’s apartment and when I realized the smell was almost impossible to get rid of right away, I knew I needed to take a break from wanting to do nails. Since I couldn’t practice, it certainly delayed my progress by months. Eventually, I got my own apartment and created my own nail room.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am known for being a nail tech and content creator on Tiktok. I’ve always loved filming and thought I should incorporate that somehow in my nail business. I decided to start my Tiktok account back in 2021 and over millions of people have seen my videos. I’ve gotten the chance to work with many brands and the girl who didn’t even have a desk and was practicing on the floor would have never thought she’d be able to get noticed by big nail brands. One quality about me that sets me apart from others is how ambitious I am and my eagerness to “make it” in life.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Practice every single day. Consistency is key, not just to become a better nail tech but to see results in anything you choose to do in life. Your never too old to start anything. Don’t compare yourself to others. Be okay with people you know not supporting you.
