Today we’d like to introduce you to Deirdra Vierra.
Hi Deirdra, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I created my holistic studio after developing allergies to traditional salon chemicals. I found that there were a lot of people that had stopped going to salons because of this and a lot of hair artists who were suffering in one degree or another from the toxicity of their environments.
My business has evolved to include energy work & plant medicine based on the needs and desires of the people who have flowed into my life seeking healthier and more intentional self-care practices.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’ve been building this holistic business for over a decade and in the beginning, I’d say it was tough to get industry support but now that the demand for cleaner cruelty-free beauty has hit a tipping point, I find that I don’t have to sell the idea anymore and that my services and products are taken seriously now. More and more Indy makers are developing products that make my work easier and more efficient as well as increasing effectiveness. The holistic hair community is pretty supportive of each other and I’m grateful that we have always had each other to lean on and troubleshoot over the years.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m known for my woo and my integrity – I’m proud of the fact that I have always stayed true to my values and who I am. I value my clients and my network of beauty professionals. The best compliment I get is that my industry friends and clients can always trust me.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
In this industry, I define success by maintaining relationships with clients and industry leaders over years. To still be standing after the closure of our industry. To have traditional hairstylists add in energy work or switch to cleaner products because I inspired them. To have clients decide to pursue a career in the holistic hair world because of how I made them feel.
