Today we’d like to introduce you to Dave Brown Jr.
Hi Dave, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story starts from when I was a child my father is an artist from painting to drawing traditional you name it he did it and I took interest in it myself, I started setting up my own table next to him while listening to Temptations while Drawing ninja turtles and from that point on I started taking more interest in it. Over the next few years, you could never see me without my pencil and paper from drawing pictures for my friends to winning school contests. Then taking my skills and moved on to college and with this talent, I develop more connections with other artists and built relationships and so again over the next few more years I’ve had the opportunity to work on a number of incredible projects that have allowed me to grow and establish myself within this competitive industry. To build my own company name “Thru The Storm comix” which I own I have eight Titles under me written and drawn out by me and more coming. I’m also A art teacher for children with special needs and starting soon my own reach-out program for helping kids with special needs and Art. But none of this would’ve been possible without my beautiful wife Latasha Brown next to me You Tasha are the perfect verse over a tight beat. My beautiful kids, I couldn’t create the things I created without them Nevaeh, DJ, Joshua and Andrew y’all are my true strengths.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Well, life has its roller coasters you know being a young black man coming up in the world trying to make a name for himself and being a father a husband working bills it’s a lot of stuff to take in when you are trying to build your dream up one brick at a time.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a comic book artist/illustrator I love to create my own Comix especially. I’m known a lot for my own book The Brown Family issues I’m also known for my hard work. I am mostly really proud of the products that I’ve produced over the past few years, and what sets me apart from anyone else? My determination I don’t stop.
What matters most to you?
My family is what matters to me my wife my daughter my sons.
