Check Out Dalma Llinas’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dalma Llinas.

Dalma Llinas

Hi Dalma, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Sometimes I feel like a cat. I’ve lived so many lives. From 15 to 25, I taught English; I even opened a company in Colombia to do this when I was 19. For most of my teens and twenties, I had to work very, very hard to make ends meet. All while gigging as a rock singer in Barranquilla and organizing cultural shows for Barranquilla’s Museum of Modern Art. I got to where I am today because I woke up at 3 am one night, and someone (I believe the Universe or the teacher within) asked me: Is this how you want to live your life? The answer was no. The truth is that no matter how many “accomplishments” I had, I was still procrastinating in my dream of moving to LA to pursue acting and filmmaking because I was afraid of failure and the unknown. Saying no to that question and yes to myself was the beginning of everything and the full embrace of the person I am today.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It most definitely hasn’t. It still isn’t. But I believe the magic lies in doing things despite the lack of motivation or how sad or frustrated you feel one day. The magic lies in taking emotions for what they are: everchanging. For a while, the main struggle along the way was money. I had to save a lot to come from Colombia to the US and get a job that could sponsor my immigration process. Then, I had to endure how difficult and stressful immigration can be – not to mention the social issues attached to it too. But now that’s done, I think my main struggle is living in the moment and always being grateful for everything around me: the projects, the people, the endless possibilities. Being grateful and patient right now is my main struggle.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a multipotentialite who loves to create and explore different forms of expression. I’m an actress, a singer, a filmmaker, and a digital creator. I specialize in creating content that inspires, challenges, and entertains people. I’m known for my passion, my versatility, and my authenticity. I’m most proud of following my dreams and overcoming my fears. What sets me apart from others is my unique perspective, my diverse background, and my willingness to learn and grow. I was born and raised in Colombia, where I learned English by myself and then taught it, ran showcases, and collaborated with the Museum of Modern Art. I also became a rock singer and then released a pop single that generated over a million views on YouTube. I moved to Los Angeles in 2021 to pursue acting and filmmaking, and since then, I’ve worked on several feature films, such as The Sovereign and Lime & Vinegar.

I also work as a social media strategist and a YouTube host for iVisa.com, a leading travel platform. I share art-driven, self-improvement content on Instagram. I love to connect with people who share my values and vision, and I’m always open to new opportunities and challenges. Something that sets me apart is never conforming to outdated societal values and not believing the things the masses believe. I think of myself as a rebel who advocates for self-expression, creativity, and authenticity, and the content I create online showcases that. In my upcoming SuperClass: How to be Successful on social media without having to go viral, I’ll teach my audience how to create, expand, and monetize their personal brand or business on social by having the right mindset and a personalized content strategy that’s aligned with their values and purpose.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Haha, they may not know I cry all the time lol – I mean, almost every movie makes me cry. I think that’s why I wanted to be an actress, I think the actor’s job is so beautiful, the goal of conveying emotions and the truthfulness and rawness of human nature.

Something they may not know is that no matter how “effortless” and “put together” the work, the content, or the persona I put out there look, I try really hard to make things work and to be of service to others. I can 100% do a better job at that second thing, but I want them to know that everything they see of me, both offline and online, is made with effort, love, and hard work.
