Today we’d like to introduce you to Cindy Nguyen
Hi Cindy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m Cindy and I am a current UCLA student owning a small business. I started knitting as a child and then learned to crochet during COVID! I loved to make bags but had no idea what to do with them so I decided to start selling them.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Nope. I went through SO much. I’ve been through a few personal adversities that I’d prefer to keep private but I’ve experienced a couple of depressive episodes where I spiral downwards and it becomes hard to keep going.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I crochet! I also do grappling but that’s beside the point. I focus on making fashion like clothes and bags because I care about sustainability.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I really like the diversity in LA. There are so many little cultural ethnoburbs that I get to explore. But with the good comes the bad. I dislike how busy and cutthroat the culture can be sometimes. There is a lot of competition that it sometimes feels hard to breathe.
