Check Out Christian Dior’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Dior.

Hi Christian, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Well, I grew up in Jefferson park and West LA going back and forth between my mom and my pops. I went to school in a few different areas throughout the city. I loved basketball from a young age and started playing ball at Baldwin hills park when I was about 6/7 years old. As I got older I got more into music and fashion I started wearing designer clothes and wanting to make my own brand. I started making music around 17/18 and then eventually ended up creating a group with two of my boys, Yz and Rue called Jet Settas. After that, I ended up releasing a couple of solo projects and started my own clothing company called Cell Division. I also started another music collective AFP/PAID with my boy.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it’s always challenges and obstacles to overcome. I was shot in 2011 and almost lost my life that incident gave me even more drive to want to accomplish my goals. I’ve had financial issues built up savings and went broke investing in myself but the only way to succeed is to keep going and learn from every failure and every success.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I make music and design clothes I’m very proud of the music I’ve released I go by YngxDior. I feel like I have a unique style as an artist not only as a musician but as a designer. I’m inspired by designers like Heidi Slimane, Kanye West, Jun Takahashi, Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs and too many others to name. As far as my music it’s s mix between old school and new school I grew up on Jay-Z, Nas, Biggie, Wu Tang all the classics but I like to mix in the trap elements like Gucci and Future and all that.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I think there’s no major success without risk. I’ve taken risks before whether it be risks to make money by doing something dangerous or that could cost me my freedom. But I think there’s positive risks too like investing in yourself by putting money into your own business or whatever it may be but I’m always willing to a chance if it could positively affect my future.
