Today we’d like to introduce you to Charles Grace.
Hi Charles, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Music has always been the focus for me since I started playing guitar at thirteen years old. I started my first band in high school with my best friends, and everything else took off from there. I went on to study classical guitar at Coastal Carolina University and toured the Southeastern U.S. after college. In 2018, I returned to California and continued to write record, and perform around Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego. In 2020, I released my debut solo record, entitled The Wreckage.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This question makes me laugh, because there is never really a smooth road for anything worth pursuing, right? The hardest struggle for me has always been my own insecurities and self-doubt. Someone once told me that anxiety is like believing a conspiracy theory about yourself. That always motivates to pursue the truth and trust those around me who are there to build me up.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a musician who specializes in playing guitar, singing, and songwriting. Years ago, I was considering quitting college half-way through because I was literally pulling my hair out over music theory. A close friend of mine told me that I could be a better musician or just another guitar player. That comment lit a new fire under me. I take pride in growth and becoming a better musician weekly, daily even. I don’t ever want to settle or stop learning. I would say that’s what sets me apart, and that’s what I am most proud of. I am more intentional about carving out the time to hone my craft and put the work in to become better instead of thinking things are out of my reach. The goalpost is constantly moving.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I am gearing up to release some new music soon. I had the privilege of working with a good friend/producer by the name of Casey Corum. I’m excited to share some of the songs that came out of me in the past two years.
