Today we’d like to introduce you to Chantal Rochelle.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My life started in Houston, Texas.
I’m the youngest of four girls and grew up surrounded by music, pop culture, and entertainment.
My parents were very adamant about my sisters and me being active and having extracurricular activities.
I tried to get into sports: I played basketball, soccer, and softball all throughout grade school, but never really fell in love with it.
During this time, I was very active on social media pages like Xanga, MySpace, and AOL chat. I was consistently revamping my URL to change the theme of my homepage and the way my site looked. I created my own pop culture blog where I spoke about the latest celebrity news, current fashion trends, and exclusive interviews.
This was the first time I felt that creative spark ignite inside of me and instantly knew that I wanted to be in the media and entertainment industry.
I promised myself that moment on everything I created would be with intention and in spaces, I thrived in.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It most definitely was NOT!
This journey was not smooth by any means. If anything there has been plenty of detours and u-turns along the way.
Opportunities and jobs I wanted but they didn’t workout. Connections I wanted to make but missed. Self-doubt and standing in my own way, and the list goes on and on.
The important thing I try to remind myself is that hard times and setbacks don’t last. They’re temporary moments in our lives that will pass. My mom always says “a delay is not a denial” and the moments that feel stagnant and hard to push through, are the very moments where we need to tap into ourselves and dig within and bring out that fighter in us. You will get through it!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a multi-hyphenate creative who specializes in social media strategy, creative production, and on-air hosting.
I’m mostly known for my on-air hosting and production work. I have a show on Hulu and AppleTV called “The Era” that I executive produced and hosted. It pays homage to iconic Black actors, musicians, and athletes from the 90s.
I’m currently working on a series that will be announced in 2023. I’m also currently working on a children’s book about grief and loss that will publish in 2024 as well.
I don’t like being put in a box or staying in the confines of one thing. I’m always tapping into different elements of my creative brain.
It’s very important to me that the work I do brings me peace, makes an impact on others’ lives, and leaves this world a much better place than it was before.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
