Check Out Carly Butler’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carly Butler. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Carly Butler is a singer-songwriter originally from Atlanta but ultimately found roots in the Bay Area where she graduated high school. After high school Carly found herself moving again to study Music at Belmont University Nashville. Once she earned her degree, Carly moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career as an A&R. It was not long into her career that she decided she was going to leave to pursue her first passion, being an artist.

When looking back at what leads Carly to music – she feels she never had a particular moment of falling love with it, rather she feels it was always in her… When she was five, she wrote her first song and was shocked to find out her fellow classmates didn’t want to be singers too. She truly felt even from a young age, she was meant to be a musician. As she grew older, she found writing songs and listening to music helped her process her emotions and cope with life struggles better than anything else.

Carly found this feeling beautiful and to this day, it remains her goal to play a part in other people’s emotions connected to music. When asking why she loves her career and what continues to push her, she said, “I just want to make music that people can feel and relate to, that can spark any emotion in themselves – that’s always been my goal. I’ve always been in love with music for the way it can affect someone on such a personal level. I only hope that the songs I write can do that too.”

Now, two years out of college Carly is more in love with music than ever. Everyday she continues to grow and evolve her sound into something better than before. Her recent single coffee + alcohol is setting the pace for what is ahead. She feels more inspired than ever to be in the studio and make great music alongside the many of like-minded creatives she has met since moving to LA. Looking ahead, Carly plans to release her next single at the end of this summer and we are so excited for you all to hear it!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
“I think the hardest part about being an artist is not giving up. You have to keep going and believe you’re good enough. I think I struggle most with confidence in myself. Whether it’s personal or in my career, especially in LA you find yourself not feeling good enough. There’s a constant battle to be a certain way or look a certain way and there’s so much noise to fight through to get your voice heard. I find myself feeling like an imposter a lot and then I have to stop and be like wait, I literally have a degree in this. I can’t suck that bad. Something I learned from a close friend in college is that he always had a note above his workstation that said, “you do not do this for them.” That has stuck with me. I have my own version of this and I keep a note above where I make music that says, “I’m a musician, I am good at what I do.”

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Since beginning her career, Carly has put out 1 EP, 1 Album and 3 singles.

Looking at Carly’s past releases, she has found her voice in the pop genre with nods to R&B. She hopes that as she continues to release music, she can dive deeper into R&B which is where she has found majority of her inspiration throughout her career. Carly’s biggest influences are Kehlani, Olivia O Brien, & Sabrina Claudio.
