Check Out Carlheb Cemesca’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlheb Cemesca.

Hi Carlheb, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name or full moniker is MyCompiledThoughts, I go by Thoughts for short. I started making music when one day I realized how much I loved the shapes of sounds. Like many Haitian Americans music, and dance are the center of our daily upbringing. I can remember waking up and hearing my mom blaring some Haitian Christian music to help medicate her Diasporic mind that was battling the new American way. I ended up in LA through my pursuit and genuine love for the art. I remember days where I had no one else to talk to, but my microphone and an old school program called audacity. Music became my way of documenting and working through all the spinning thoughts and emotions in my mind.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey to reaching this position and reflecting on this mountain has been one that’s had its bumps. To say it was an easy walk through would be doing a disservice to me and everyone that has invested into me. I’ve had the opportunity to embrace and experience heart breaks that would tear the average man apart. While some days waking up feeling like an alien in the country that I’ve spent so much time investing in. As a Haitian man raised by a father who traversed thousands of miles to create the foundation for the life I am living, and a mother who worked relentlessly to isolate and protect my ideologies I’ve oftentimes battled with identity. You find in many island folk how the blessing of community drives and pushes the general moods of everyone on the island. Growing up in America I saw life through a lens of joy while also being grounded by the foundational truth of loneliness. I got to experience first hand how each year it felt like everyone was getting more isolated. I used to know my neighbors till they became a fragment of reality. So i guess I struggled with the evolution of the world and the increased political strains instilled in it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an artist who specialized in music. I am known for being eclectic when it comes to sonic philosophy as well as a warm worn soul. I produce music which means I’m able to orchestrate and balance various compositions, I sing and have gotten professional training from Jayon Anthony and Jon Jones, and write songs for myself and various other artists. I am most proud of my growth. I’ve reached a point artistically where it’s no longer about how I create, but why. Intent has overtaken the need to prove to myself I am improving. The thing that sets me apart from others is the intent. I find a lot of artist that create music have an inner world perspective. My objective it to turn the light and point it outside. MyCompiledThoughts is all about compilations and creating community. It’s about taking external stimuli and using my internal compass to translate them into pieces or works that can help inspire, influence, and promote internal and external change in others.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see my industry being forced to figure out what authentic artistry really looks like. There’s so much funding everywhere and were in a period where labels and other influential parts of the music industry know how to manipulate and force mediocrity onto the masses. Many people are picking up on this and and there is a growing sense of apathy storming the industry. The overtaking of A.I., the extreme amount of volume with no direct way to quality control. I see my industry hitting a point where nothing that feels fake will stick.
