My journey began at the tender age of 16, working at an exclusive studio where I started by sweeping floors and answering phones—all while finishing high school. With an insatiable passion for hair, I seized every opportunity, working my way up from the ground level. Over the next 20 years, I dedicated myself to mastering my craft, working with A-list celebrities and sophisticated industry professionals. This allowed me the pleasure of traveling the world, doing what I love most.
Along this richly colorful journey, I also had the joy of building a beautiful family. Today, I’ve brought Hollywood’s best-kept secrets closer to home, expanding my reach by establishing roots in the prestigious city of Pasadena, California. While I still cherish the intimacy of house calls, I’ve now created a stunning atelier that offers my clients the utmost privacy and a luxurious space for their transformative hair experiences.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has definitely had its challenges. Starting my career at 16, I had to work hard from the very beginning, balancing long hours and my passion for hair with finishing school. As I progressed, maintaining the high standards expected by A-list celebrities and discerning clients required constant dedication and adaptability.
Transitioning from a global career to establishing my atelier in Pasadena presented its own set of hurdles. Ensuring that my intimate, personalized service could be scaled while keeping the same level of exclusivity was a significant challenge.
However, each struggle has been an important part of my journey. They’ve helped me build a unique, luxurious space where clients can enjoy a truly exceptional and private experience.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in keratin bond extensions for high-net-worth clients, and I’ve had the honor of working with Hollywood A-list actresses. My focus is on creating glamorous, yet natural and authentic hair looks that stand out for their beauty and realism.
Clients have often told me that my eye sees what only an artist sees, much like painting on a canvas. They trust me completely and never worry or question the end result because they absolutely love it. Many top stylists and industry experts recommend my work by name, reflecting the high level of trust and respect I’ve earned over the years.
What sets me apart is my dedication to combining high-end glamour with natural elegance, ensuring that each client leaves with a look that enhances their personal beauty while maintaining authenticity.
One of my proudest moments was being contacted by Julia Roberts’ coordinator to work on one of my childhood favorite actresses. It was a special achievement that highlighted the success and recognition of my career.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
My view on risk-taking is deeply intertwined with my journey and growth in the industry. While stepping out of my comfort zone is not always easy, I believe in the essential role that risk-taking plays and the positive outcomes it can bring. My first significant risk was leaving my childhood patterns earlier than most, entering a world that I arguably wasn’t fully prepared for and certainly didn’t feel I deserved. Despite this, I was catapulted to the top of the industry, which was both a tremendous opportunity and a challenge.
One of my more recent major risks was leaving a team I had worked with for 20 years to establish my own atelier in Pasadena. This decision involved leaving the familiarity of a known echo system and well-established team with fluid dynamics to adapt to a new environment where I was unknown but much needed. As the new owner Brittini Brenes Atelier, I took on the responsibility for all aspects of the business, where the wins were mine to celebrate and any mistakes were mine to rectify. It required proving that my 20 years of expertise was both valuable and noteworthy in an uncharted market.
Taking risks has been a defining aspect of my career. Each risk—whether it was moving to a new location or trying out innovative techniques—has been driven by a commitment to excellence and a desire to offer the best to my clients. I view risk as an essential part of growth. I have learned it requires stepping out of comfort zones, which ultimately leads to new opportunities and achievements.
Risk-taking, for me, is not just about embracing uncertainty but also about pushing striving for excellence. It’s a crucial element of staying relevant and continuously evolving in a competitive field.
