Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Greif.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I worked in the television business for 34 years but painted and created art as a hobby. I lived in San Francisco from 2006 to 2014. At that time, San Francisco was a major destination for the world’s top street artists. I was very active in the San Francisco gallery scene and met major artists like Blek Le Rat, Ben Eine, Roa, Doze Green, Herakut and Rone. I was fortunate to become friends with many of them. Beginning in about 2010, when street art started to move into galleries, many artists would call me for advice or guidance on contracts, business plans and exhibits. In 2013 I decided to leave the TV business and start my own company. That company 2:32 AM Projects is now one of the largest management companies for mural projects, gallery exhibits and brand activations in North America. Since 2016 my business partner Eva Boros and I have coordinated over 80 mural projects including three of the top ten largest murals created in North America. We have curated 60 Gallery Exhibits including major exhibits in Miami, Toronto, Nashville, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Austin TX.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. When we first started the company, many of the artists were involved in bad gallery deals. Some galleries had stolen paintings or not paid our artists for past exhibits. Making sure art was recovered or paintings were paid for was difficult, but we managed to unwind those bad deals and now work with some of the best galleries in the business. The only difficult part of the business now is keeping up with demand. As Covid restrictions were eased in April 2021, we were approached by four major galleries to curate exhibits. Those exhibits all happened within a span of three months. So securing the inventory, managing logistics and curating four exhibits from June to August 2021 was a bit of a challenge, but we were able to make it happen and the exhibits were all very successful.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We are best known for being honest and detail-oriented. When working with an artist on an exhibit, we handle all logistics, contracts and details. All the artist has to do is create. I think as a company we are most proud of our reputation. We always put artists first and do everything we can to help them succeed. Having great relationships with artists is very important for our company. We are honored that artists appreciate what we do and how we conduct business.
Any big plans?
We have major gallery exhibits scheduled in East Hampton NY, Miami, Dallas, Beverly Hills and New York City: Our company recently signed two new exciting emerging artists.
