Check Out Brandon Jay’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Jay.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up in Los Angeles, coming from a musical family I’ve been playing music since I was nine. I was part of the Silver Lake music scene in the 1990-2000’s playing in several bands from Lutefisk to The 88 to Quazar and the Bamboozled. My wife and I started a band for pre-schoolers called Gwendolyn and the Good Time Gang which lead to are both of us going to SHOWTIME series weeds, followed by the Netflix series. Orange is the new Black. Currently we’re writing the music/lyrics for Romy and Michele that is debuting Off Broadway this fall.

We lost our home and recording studio to the Eaton Canyon fire the week after the fire, I started the foundation Altadena Musicians, which is helping get INSTRUMENTS and RECORD collections back into the hands of those that lost theirs in the fires.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As far as setting up the foundation, it’s been very smooth road. I cannot be happier with how we been able to connect donors and recipients with each other as we get more exposure more and more fantastic INSTRUMENTS have become available and connections to be made and people are starting to play music again.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
