Today we’d like to introduce you to Actor/Producer Bradley Evans.
Hi Bradley, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
It was during my last year of classes in college that I became interested in theater arts. Having no acting experience, I decided to work as crew in blackbox theater building sets. After graduation, I started my career working for Continental Airlines. However, the entertainment industry always seemed to present opportunities for me. I finally joined a wonderful community theater in Garfield Heights, Ohio and fell in love with acting. Shortly after, I landed my first agent and began working consistently in commercials, modeling and print in the northeast between Cleveland and New York City. During that time, I was cast in many Indie films. I knew then I wanted to work in Film and Television. After realizing that all signs pointed to come to Hollywood, I finally moved to Los Angeles in 2018.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
A little of both, I guess. I was selling shoes while I was going to college in my hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. On several occasions, talent agents would come in to buy shoes and would offer me opportunities in New York City. Having no acting experience and lack of confidence, I always politely declined. The entertainment industry continued to present opportunities for me over the next ten years.
I almost moved to LA in 2001. A personal management firm offered me representation, however; the threat of a writers and actors strike stopped everything. It wasn’t until 2014 that I moved to California. My company paid for my move to San Francisco. For the next four years, I continued to consistently work, shooting national commercials and working on a Japanese television show. I also had a great opportunity to train at the prestigious ACT American Conservatory Theater. In the fall of 2018, I finally moved to Los Angeles! Sometimes things take time and with 100% certainty, I know I’m where I’m supposed to be.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Yes. I have a Christmas movie coming out called Holiday Twist. It stars Kelly Stables (Superstore, Two and a Half Men), Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings, The Goonies) and Neal McDonough (Yellowstone, Suits). The role I will be playing is Dr. Andrew. Executive producer Stephanie Garvin, who also wrote and directed the film, brought me on as a producer alongside of Scott Rosenfelt, who executive produced Home Alone. Holiday Twist is set for a theatrical release this December.
I’m also working on a couple of Indie films. One is called Severed Innocence. I play the role of Judge Clay. I had a lot of fun with this one. You should’ve seen the reaction I got when I showed up to set wearing a judge’s robe. The cast and crew enthusiastically said I was born to play a judge.
I’ll be shooting another film this summer in Phoenix called The Cafe where I will be playing the lead detective, Lieutenant Doyle. I will be starring opposite my longtime friend, Lou George, a.k.a. Bowlegged Lou (House Party, Coach Carter and member of the music group Full Force)
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
One of the biggest things I’ve learned since moving to LA is building relationships. Hollywood is the entertainment capital of the world and unlike no other. You must understand how it works. I quickly got myself into acting classes and started making genuine, like-minded friends. That led to working together on projects and building my résumé. I also attended events and film festivals. There is always something going on every day in LA.
One of the best things that has happened in my career is being represented by Eileen O’Farrell Personal Management! Eileen O’Farrell is a legend in this business. I am so grateful to have Eileen and Sam as my managers! By the way, a relationship I had built trusted me enough and referred me to Eileen. We all have our ups and downs, but I can truly say I love my journey!
