Check Out Ashley Biggers’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Biggers.

Hi Ashley , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Just before the COVID-19 pandemic, I discovered a passion for candle making, which quickly evolved into a full-fledged business. In May 2020, I officially launched Candle Culture Co. with a soy candle line, and my appreciation for the craft only deepened from there. My first year in business was a tremendous success—I actively participated in farmers markets and community events across the Denver Metro area, expanding both my network and customer base.

As a Denver native, I observed the growing interest in the hemp and CBD industries and saw an opportunity to reimagine Candle Culture Co. as a sustainable, wellness-focused brand. I transitioned the company to specialize in hemp-based aromatherapy products and massage candles—an emerging concept at the time. Educating consumers on this innovative product line helped set my brand apart, and each collection released since has consistently sold out.

In 2021, I was featured in Voyage Denver, which captured the early stages of my rebranding journey. By the end of that year, I curated my first women-owned business pop-up in Denver, featuring 17 vendors, over 100 attendees, a live DJ, and food—an event that significantly boosted Candle Culture Co.’s visibility.

Since then, I’ve collaborated with major players in the CBD/THC/hemp industry, including CannaCulture, as well as cultural organizations like the Black Arts Festival, Juneteenth events, and the Black History Month Brunch Market. I’ve also created custom candle favors for special events and expanded into wholesale opportunities.

After reaching a pivotal point in my business, I took a much-needed break to prioritize my well-being—a reminder that entrepreneurship often requires wearing many hats with limited support. This pause allowed me to refocus and return with renewed energy.

In January 2025, I launched the C’s Interlude collection, marking a new chapter for the brand with updated visuals, fresh scents, and a refined identity. The name reflects the loyalty of my supporters throughout each rebranding phase. The collection sold out within a month, and I’m now preparing for an upcoming event later this year. Candle Culture Co. remains committed to innovation and creating memorable sensory experiences for homes and spaces

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As a business owner, I’ve learned that sustaining a brand is often more challenging than starting one. One of the biggest lessons I’ve faced is recognizing the importance of asking for help—success truly requires a community. Limited funding has required me to think creatively to keep my brand moving forward, especially amid rising supplier costs and the impact of new tariffs in 2025. These challenges have pushed me to explore domestic sourcing and adapt my business model to maintain consistency with seasonal product launches. Over the past five years, resilience and innovation have been key to my growth. I’ve learned that as long as I believe in myself and my vision, others will too—and that makes the journey worthwhile.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Since graduating in 2016 with a degree in Journalism, Public Relations, and Advertising Media, I’ve built a diverse background that bridges both corporate and creative industries. I began my career in account management, supply chain, and transportation, while simultaneously gaining hands-on experience in nightlife and event promotion. Over the years, I’ve developed skills in event production, vendor coordination, and social media management. I’m now seeking to transition into a full-time role in event coordination or production—fields that align more closely with my educational background and personal passions. Curating my own events has been especially fulfilling, as it allows me to bring my vision to life and create meaningful experiences under my own direction

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Behind the scenes, I’ve contributed to the success of many curators in my city—though much of my impact has gone unrecognized. I approach every interaction as a learning opportunity and remain eager to grow both personally and professionally. I understand the value of mentorship and collaboration, and I’m continually learning to embrace support from those who believe in my vision. Building a strong network and remaining open to guidance has been essential to my journey, and I’m deeply grateful for the individuals who support my brand, work ethic, and drive to succeed.
