Today we’d like to introduce you to Ansley Williams
Hi Ansley, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started singing when I came out of the womb. My mom put me in a big talent competition at the age of six years old and I won best singer out of all age groups.
Soon after, I got a manager in New York and lived there every summer taking vocal lessons. I was cast on Sesame Street, and continued to study my craft taking dancing lessons and acting in off Broadway shows.
As I got a little older, I started to be able to read and write music writing my first music project at eight years old. When I was 14, I came out with my first EP at got looked at by Disney, performed everywhere and kept writing music which got me to where I am now.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. When I released my first EP, I faced a lot of bullying and negativity, to the point where I almost stopped doing music altogether. I started believing the harsh words and let them get to me. But every time I felt lost or hurt, I found myself sitting at the piano, creating music that gave me hope. That’s when I realized I couldn’t let anyone take away what I loved most. The struggles shaped me into a stronger artist and made me more passionate about songwriting. In hindsight, even though it wasn’t easy, I’m grateful for the challenges because they helped me find my voice, both as a person and as a musician.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My journey started when I was six years old. I still remember the first time I sang on stage—I was this little girl with a big voice, and I knew from that moment I wanted to spend my life making music. When I won a singing contest at AMTC, competing against singers up to 21 years old, it opened the door to incredible opportunities, including an appearance on Sesame Street. I spent my summers in New York auditioning for Broadway shows and performing at Carnegie Hall, soaking up every moment on stage and learning how much music could touch people’s hearts.
But the real turning point for me was when I started taking lessons at Mama Jan’s studio. It was there I discovered my love for pop music, and everything just clicked. At 14, I released my first EP, and it went viral in my hometown of Atlanta, getting played at every high school prom. Suddenly, I was that girl—the one whose music everyone knew. But it wasn’t all smooth sailing. I faced a lot of challenges along the way, but the one thing that never wavered was my passion for writing songs that people could truly feel.
My song ‘Ghost’ was a huge milestone for me—it gave me a national platform and really showed the world who I was as an artist. Since then, I’ve worked with some amazing producers in LA, poured my heart into an album, and signed with Dallas Austin. He saw something in me that made all those years of hard work worth it. The songs I write now come straight from my soul and the piano keys where I’ve always found comfort.
One of my latest songs, ‘Don Julio,’ is blowing up right now—it’s one of the most viral tracks, and it’s getting played on the radio everywhere. What makes me proud isn’t just the numbers or the attention, though. It’s knowing that I’ve stayed true to myself through every twist and turn. My music is a reflection of my journey—raw, emotional, and real. I want people to feel something when they hear my songs, the same way music has always given me hope and strength.
This is just the beginning. If you don’t know my name yet, you will soon—I’m going to be the next biggest pop star, and I’m bringing my story, my voice, and my heart along for the ride.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The quality I feel has been most important to my success is being real—authenticity is everything to me. I’ve been through tough times, like dealing with bullying, and those experiences have shaped who I am today. I’ve never tried to be anything other than myself, whether I’m writing music, performing, or just connecting with my fans. I think people can feel that honesty. I don’t put on a front—I’m the same person on stage as I am in real life. I love to make people laugh, show love, and be a positive force in the world. But I’m also not afraid to be vulnerable, and that’s what my music reflects.
At the end of the day, being true to who I am—hilarious, heartfelt, and a bit of a sweetheart—has not only helped me build a real connection with my fans but has also been key to my growth as an artist. I think that’s what people connect with: knowing that I’m just like them, with my own struggles and victories, and that I pour all of that into my songs.
