Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Nguyen (from left to right: Natasha Nguyen and Angela Nguyen)
Hi Angela, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Hi! I truly appreciate your time and the opportunity to share my story. It’s one that I believe many of your readers might find relatable. My journey began with the typical college experience—I pursued my bachelor’s degree and then eagerly entered the workforce. Along the way, I held various jobs, each contributing to my growth and refining my professional interests. Throughout these experiences, one consistent passion emerged: branding. When my friend, Natasha, contacted me back in March 2020 about her company, Empress Media Inc. I was excited to learn more about her vision for the brand. Empress, beyond being a unique name, stood out for its commitment to assisting small businesses through brand consulting and influencer marketing. The company’s portfolio extended to more services, including content creation, channel management, and other valuable social media offerings. This holistic approach to empowering businesses resonated with me, and I was quick to align myself with the company’s vision. Since joining Empress, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to the growth of the brand. The dynamic intersection of branding, consulting, and innovative marketing strategies has allowed me to leverage my skills and passion in ways that make a real impact.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Since we are a new service-based company, getting new clients is most challenging. We’re currently building out our case studies portfolio to show clients what we can do for them.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As a tight-knit two-person team, you can rest assured that your project will receive our undivided attention. We thrive on immersing ourselves in the intricacies of your business – from products and audience to identifying pain points. What makes my approach to branding consultancy unique is my background in UX/UI Design. My passion lies in delving into the world of your users and understanding their behavior, experiences, and frustrations. Through user research interviews, I gain valuable insights, putting myself in the customer’s shoes to comprehend their perspective. This distinctive skill set becomes a powerful asset for your business, effectively bridging the gap between customers and stakeholders. Building this connection is not just about immediate gains but establishing a foundation for a lasting customer-business relationship. I believe that conducting user research at any stage of your business will be beneficial and provide invaluable insights into your customers’ purchasing decisions. The result? The ability to craft data-driven designs rooted in my comprehensive analysis. When you partner with Empress, we don’t just work on a project; we contribute to the strategic growth of your business. I look forward to the opportunity to bring this unique blend of branding and UX/UI expertise to elevate your brand to new heights.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
In the current landscape of social media marketing, there’s a pronounced shift towards the prevalence of short-form vertical videos. Everyone has a smartphone. Whether it’s the Stories, IG Reels, or YT Shorts, audiences are increasingly drawn to this type of video content. Looking ahead, the trajectory indicates that this trend is here to stay for the next 5-10 years. A significant factor driving this shift is the undeniable decrease in human attention spans over the past few years. There used to be a time when catching a glimpse of your favorite celebrity meant tuning in to a television show or heading to the cinema. Now, the scenario has transformed – you can witness celebrities being their authentic selves in the comfort of their homes, all within the palm of your hand. The omnipresence of media is undeniable, and as a result, companies are finding it progressively challenging to maintain relevance without a dedicated research team. Staying on top of the evolving media landscape has become crucial for businesses. The ability to navigate the dynamic world of short-form videos and the constant influx of content requires not just creativity but a solid understanding of audience behavior and preferences. The role of a dedicated research team becomes indispensable in ensuring companies remain not just present but influential in this ever-expanding digital sphere.
